Surrounded by open countryside and moments from the scenic River Bure, this large property is a wonderful base for a dog-friendly holiday among family and friends. It’s on the edge of Coltishall, a village often called the ‘Gateway to the Broads’. With no neighbours in sight and over 3 acres of private grounds to explore, this detached seven-bedroom home is wonderful for nature-loving humans and canines.
You’ll arrive at this impressive red-brick building via a walnut-lined drive. The house’s unique three-wing layout gives the property its local nickname – The Propeller House. You’ll have plenty of room for socialising and relaxing inside, with a sociable open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge and lots of breakout spaces for curling up after muddy walks. On the ground floor is a king-size bedroom plus a separate WC for convenience. Upstairs, you’ll find a further six bedrooms: two king-size, two doubles and two twins. There are two family bathrooms, plus an additional WC. Outside, a large lawn wraps around the house — ideal for zoomies — and the raised patio, complete with an oak gazebo and seating, makes a lovely spot for group meals. Kids can run wild on the open grass, and dogs will adore the sense of freedom as they explore the wildlife-rich gardens (keep an eye out for deer). The property has private parking for up to ten cars.
You’ll have easy access to walking routes and scenic waterways all around – for example, the Coltishall Circular (0.5 miles) and the Bure Valley Path (2 miles) in Hoveton. Both Hoveton and Wroxham (also 2–3 miles) have dog-friendly pubs so you can pop in for a laid-back drink. The famously huge Roys of Wroxham store (3 miles, dogs on leads welcome) is well worth the trip if it’s retail therapy you’re after. Or, for something a little more urban, the historic city of Norwich is only 10.5 miles away.
