This impressive country retreat is in the peaceful Norfolk Fens, close to the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire border. The three-storey Georgian home welcomes 18 guests and two canines, and boasts three reception rooms and a vast, enclosed garden. This is the perfect base for family get-togethers and breaks with friends. Nearby woof-friendly days out include the Royal Sandringham Estate (27 miles) and Thetford Forest (22 miles).

The 17th-century home is full of period charm, with high ceilings, sash windows, and complementary styling. Reached via a small flight of steps, this property boasts three lounges, all with open fires. Two also have TV/DVDs for cosy movie nights. The kitchen/diner has all you need to cater for a large group, plus ample room to set up dog beds. Dine at the informal breakfast table in the kitchen, or share special occasions in the magnificent dining room, seating all 18 guests, both featuring open fires. A utility room sits on the ground floor (via steps), wet room, a super-king-size bedroom (also via steps), and a twin, plus four more first-floor bedrooms, two with en-suite facilities. A beautiful family bathroom rounds off the first floor (via steps). On the second floor, a self-contained apartment awaits with a lounge/kitchen, family bathroom, and three bedrooms. Outside, the pups can burn off steam on the enclosed lawn, whilst you enjoy a family BBQ on the patio or a soak in the hot tub. The property has ample private parking.

The bustling town of Downham Market is 7 miles away with pubs and independent restaurants. The town has fascinating architecture, and also hosts regular open-air markets selling local goods and produce. Journey to Thetford Forest, where you and the hounds can explore the shady tracks and trails through the trees. History enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to Castle Rising (23.5 miles), where dogs are welcome in the grounds.

This house was perfect for our family holiday. We especially loved the huge enclosed garden and the large hot tub.
