Swap the daily grind for wide-open skies and wagging tails at this delightful cottage on the Cornwall/Devon border. It’s in sweet Pensilva, a village surrounded by sweeping countryside views and the promise of wonderful walkies through pretty scenery. You’ll be conveniently located just 0.5 miles from the local shop and 1.5 miles from a dog-friendly pub serving food. Bodmin Moor is just 2.5 miles away, with mile upon mile of open space and scenic trails just waiting to be sniffed out.
Inside, the cottage is cosy and welcoming, starting with a small porch area ideal for wiping off muddy paws before heading in. The lounge has a warming wood burner where tired pets can laze after energetic adventures, while the humans pop on the Smart TV. A stylish kitchen sits just off the lounge, and there’s a lovely light-filled conservatory for sitting with a book and a cuppa. The family bathroom, which includes a shower over the bath, is on the ground floor too. A staircase from the kitchen leads you up to two snug bedrooms: one king-size and a twin (which can be made into a double if requested). Outside, dogs can potter in the lawned garden while you relax with a drink or fire up the BBQ. There’s also a sheltered seating area and private off-road parking for at least two cars.
When it’s time to stock up on essentials or treat yourself to lunch out, the market town of Liskeard (5 miles) has everything you need. The coast is just 15 miles south, so you and your dog can look forward to cliff-top walkies and sandy beach adventures. Downderry Beach (12.5 miles) is your best bet for doggie days out, with four-legged visitors welcome there all year round. Alternatively, venture north to discover Tintagel, Port Isaac and Padstow – all within 30 miles.
