Tucked between the lively Cornish towns of Bude (8.5 miles) and Launceston (11 miles), this cosy countryside cottage is a lovely base for dog-loving families or couples. Set in the peaceful village of Whitstone, it’s ideal for pups who enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, with easy access to walking routes and dreamy day trips to the coast. While some local beaches have doggie restrictions in summer, the beautiful beaches of Black Rock (7 miles) and Sandymouth Bay (11.5 miles) welcome your four-legged friend all year round.
The cottage has a reverse-level layout, with both the double and twin bedrooms located downstairs, along with the family bathroom. Head upstairs to the open-plan kitchen/lounge, where there’s plenty of space to relax, eat and plan, along with countryside views to enjoy with your pet at your feet. Next door, a sunny dining room with a traditional farmhouse table is a great spot for sharing meals and planning tomorrow’s walkies. Outdoors, kids and pups will love letting off steam in the shared garden, which has a lawn, swings and a slide. There’s a shared utility room and games room too, as well as private parking for one car.
When it’s time to explore further afield, Tamar Lakes (11 miles) is a great choice for dog-friendly walks around the water – or water-loving pets may like to join you on a paddleboard or kayak. If you’re heading up the coast, stop in at Boscastle, Crackington Haven or Hartland Point (all within 22 miles), where cliff paths and sea breezes await.
