This bright and welcoming country lodge is a dog’s delight, with miles of wonderfully scenic lakeside walkies on the doorstep and the wilds of Dartmoor National Park within easy reach. The spacious rural retreat sleeps six guests and two canine companions, with ample floor space and a large outside terrace where pets can enjoy a reviving snooze. The property is set just 100 metres along a wooded path to the shores of tranquil Roadford Lake, where you’ll also find cycle trails and inviting picnic spots. Furry friends have their own designated on-site area for off-lead exercise, along with a dog-wash station to spruce up those muddy paws.
Your spacious holiday home, one of a complex of similar properties, is stylishly furnished, with a light and airy open-plan living space. Relax on comfortable sofas in the lounge, get cooking in the hi-spec kitchen and enjoy shared meals in the cosy dining area. There’s a family bathroom and en-suite shower room, together with three inviting bedrooms offering flexible sleeping space. Outside, the fully enclosed terrace offers lovely open views and houses patio furniture, plus a luxurious private hot tub. Please supervise children and dogs in this space, and note that to protect wildlife, pets should not swim in the lake.
Other members of your pack have a host of activities to enjoy at the lake’s activity centre, where you can hire water sports equipment, including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and boats to go fishing. Dogs can run free across the magnificent landscape of Dartmoor National Park (10 miles), with its streams and spectacular views from landmark tors. Or cross the border to Cornwall for a day at the seaside on one of the golden, dog-friendly beaches in Bude (20 miles). Well-behaved canines on short leads are welcome on the charming vintage steam railway in historic Launceston (11 miles).
