We had a lovely week at this cosy cottage near Hawkshead. We are a family of five with a dog and the space was perfect. For an older cottage it keeps the heat well and warms up quickly if the temperature drops. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with plenty of larger pans and casserole dishes to enable a meal for five. The house is a short walkRead more over the hills to the very pretty Hawkshead village. There is WiFi but it is very slow and generally only 3G available. We would love to return. Hide

Fascinating building! Lovely quiet location. I found it easily accessible with an ordinary car. I would recommend using what three words app on the final.approach, as the postcode isn't accurate enough. A long afternoon and evening by the fire after a morning exploring was a very great pleasure!

This cottage is the perfect get away. Not another house in sight. Wildlife galore (badgers after 9pm if you gift them peanuts), room for kids to be kids, swing was never out of use. Beds super comfy, kitchen well stocked. Don't come here if you want a TV, dishwasher, newly fitted kitchen or a house on the flat! Do come here if you're happy to switcRead moreh off and you have kids/animals you can trust around potential hazards and on steep stairs. We loved it here and would definitely recommend. Hide

I have stayed in a number of locations in the Lake District, all of them lovely, but the Bobbin Mill stands head and shoulders above them all. The mill itself is set in a spectacular spot and is so convenient as a starting point for so many of my favourite walks.

A magical location and an enchanting house. Had a Nuthatch under the feeders and never seen so many Coal Tits before, we tried to do a Badger Watch for an hour but we're amateurs. So peaceful too....

Lovely setting and feels so remote but close to everything you need. However, the property is very tired and has damp/mould issues. We had to get the cleaner to scrub and bleach black mould off walls. The bed upstairs is so uncomfortable and wobbly. The bedroom Did not feel cosy at all. The property needs a deep clean and some furniture replaced. SRead moreitting/dining room was great especially with the wood burner. Appreciate, its an old property and given its location hard to address the damp. Hide

Bobbin Mill is a beautiful, quirky, unique place to stay. It is peaceful and great to escape to. Being an old watermill stretching a few floors with many stairs, access may be an issue, especially for young children, however, for my family (children now 11 and 13) it was perfect. No TV and board games allowed for some wholesome family time in the eRead morevenings in front of the fire, a great way to end the day. We felt disconnected and relaxed. We enjoyed every moment and would return again. Hide
