This stunning Victorian property is in the picturesque village of Eskdale Green. From the village, catch the paw-friendly steam train to the Cumbrian coast or head deep into the National Park for a day of climbing with your canine buddies. The cottage sleeps six guests and two furry companions – perfect for large families or a couples’ retreat. After a long dog walk, return to your cosy cottage to relax in front of the open fire or unwind in the enclosed garden, admiring the magnificent views.
The period property is light and airy, with country cottage-style decor and ornate furniture. Leave your muddy boots in the hallway, before heading into the lounge. Here, comfy seating is arranged around a crackling open fire, providing the perfect dozing spot for the doggies. Curl up in the window seat, looking out towards Muncaster Fell, or sip a cuppa in front of the TV. The new sun room is a warm and comfortable haven for watching the world go by over your morning coffee. You might even catch sight of the La’al Ratty steam engine! At the heart of the home is the spacious kitchen/diner. With flagstone flooring, it’s a great place for the hounds to set up camp. Upstairs, one king-size bed, one double, and one twin room await. Off the master bedroom is a second, private sun room, which overlooks the fells, the railway line in the distance, and the lovely garden at Birk How. This leads to the master en-suite, with WC, basin and large shower enclosure.
There is a mature garden outside with peaceful views across the valley. Sit and watch the steam train chug past, as the pups play on the lawn.
Just 300 metres from the property is the doggy haven of Giggle Alley Forest. This secluded woodland landscape has loads of new smells for the pups to investigate and a beautiful Japanese garden for you to admire. Irton Road station is less than 500 metres away and here you and the adventurous canines can board the La’al Ratty steam train to the coastal village of Ravenglass. If your four-legged friends are up for a climbing challenge, Scafell Pike is 9.5 miles from the cottage.
