Follow leafy trails through the forest and head off on fell walks that bring sheer doggy delight when you stay at this inviting Lakeland holiday home. Set in the village of Lorton, 7 miles from Keswick, the four-bedroom holiday home sleeps seven guests and one furry friend. With a gorgeous garden, where you and your happy hound can bask in the sunshine, the home is also just 2 miles from Whinlatter Forest Park and 5 miles from Crummock Water.

Wander into the entrance hall to find plenty of space for dog leads, walking boots and other outside gear. Head into the kitchen to top up your pal’s water bowl and unpack the fresh local produce you have bought. Find everything else you need in here to prepare delicious meals, plus a handy washer/dryer. Feed your hungry hound in the kitchen and everyone else through in the dining room. Afterwards, fire up the wood burner in the characterful lounge, with its stone walls, and let your contented canine stretch out while you find a film on the Smart TV. On fine days, pull open the French doors to wander outside. Climb the stairs to the first floor when you are ready to lay your head in either of the twin bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, or the double or single. The family bathroom is also up here. Make the most of the charming English country garden but keep an eye on your pup and children by the stream. You’ll find parking for two cars at the barn.

At Whinlatter Forest Park, follow exciting trails to make soft ears prick up. Stretch energetic, furry legs further on an 8-mile circuit of beautiful Crummock Water, taking you along a lakeshore path and through Mellbreak Fell, with its impressive views of the lake below.

A lovely cottage in a lovely location. We loved the sound of the water running behind the property. We enjoyed watching Red Squirrel and Dippers from the window. Not all the bedrooms were used but we found our bed very comfortable. The cottage was cosy and warm with everything we needed in the kitchen. The parking under the archway was very Read moretight. Just squeezed in our VW Tiguan. But parking just a few yards down the road was not an inconvenience. Hide

Lovely historic cottage in a great location, warm, well equipped and comfortable with lots of books and local information. Good meal at local pub, borrowed childrens books in the library in the church and the local shop delivered for us. Stickman trail at Whinlatter popular with our 4 year old grandchild.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage in a stunning part of the Lakes. The house was immaculate, and unlike lots of houses in the Lakes, it has brilliant water pressure! Hot showers were no problem. The cottage was clean, cosy and well equipped. The location is great, in the lovely village of High Lorton with a village shop and pub in walking distance. You need to park a little way up the lane but that is fine. As other people have said, the lack of WiFi can be problematic as mobile reception for many phone providers is not great in the vilRead morelage. It wasnt a huge issue for us as our party were also staying in a neighbouring house but may put us off booking again if we were on our own.

Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - Wi-Fi is available at this property, apologies if there was any confusion with this during your stay.
