Situated in the popular Kings Yard area of Hawkshead village, this delightful terraced cottage is a home-from-home for couples or small families looking to holiday with their hound. Sleeping four people and two dogs across two bedrooms, it is conveniently located within walking distance of pubs, restaurants and shops. With the beautiful Lake Windermere, a short drive away, along with some super walks, there’s something to keep everyone entertained.

Stylish design with traditional touches creates a welcoming and homely base for your break. The open-plan living area is at the heart of things, with snuggly sofas for curling up on while the furry family members enjoy a snooze and a stretch of their paws in front of the coal-effect electric fire. The dining area and shaker-style kitchen are both bright and airy and equipped with all you might need for eating in. Stairs lead up to the master bedroom where you’ll wake up to lovely views across to Claife Heights. There is also a twin room which has an inviting and cosy feel. The enclosed patio area to the front of the property offers some safe outdoor space for the canines, while you all sit back with a coffee or something stronger.

Meander around Hawkshead’s pretty streets and cobbled yards before stopping off at the famous Beatrix Potter Gallery. Let the mutts take the lead on the numerous walks which surround the amazing Lake Windermere (3 miles) and Coniston Water (4.5 miles). Take to the water by hopping on one of the pleasure cruises that operate on the lakes - many of them let dogs travel for free. If trains are more your thing, then your four-legged companions are also welcome to travel on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (10.5 miles), a steam locomotive complete with 1950s carriages.

Excellent central location in Hawkshead with a parking space, which is big bonus in the Lake District. Nice open plan L-shaped downstairs with a good size dining table located between the kitchen and seating area. Hawkshead may be a small village but with a its Co-op, chip shop, pubs, restaurants and cafes there is plenty of choice for eating in orRead more out. Hide

The cottage is in a great location between windermere and coniston. We have two boys 4 and 8 who aren't walkers but managed to walk to both lakes. The property is ideal for a family, 4 adults might find it a squeeze. Parking is at the back of the property and was enough for one car comfortably. For a terrace it is quite, you can't hear the people nRead moreext door just on creaks as they are old cottages. Kitchen is fully equipped we didn't lack anything bar some cleaning spray. Hide

Lovely cottage in a great location. Parking directly outside the property. Can be alittle noisy being a terraced cottage. Plenty of places to walk to for eating. Definitely the pubs. Had a great meal at red poppies. You need to book in advance in all of the places. Busy village. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. Weve spoken to the owner and a new housekeeper has been appointed. Hide

This is the perfect cottage for a holiday in Hawkshead and the owners seem to be making improvements on a gradual basis. The holiday maker in the next cottage parked in a very inconvenient way, perhaps the agents will mention this to their agent.

Holiday Cottages dropped the ball on this one ! Disappointingly dirty on arrival. Not a great start to our holiday having to clean. Once cleaned it was however a good cottage in a great location. We loved Hawkshead which is much quieter than Ambleside which we found very busy. We enjoyed great weather and would recommend the walks to Wray and LaRead moretterbarrow.

Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - The cleanliness issues have been addressed.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful village. It was very clean and had everything we needed plus great internet. Loved the welcome pack. The main bed was huge and comfortable. The floorboards upstairs are creaky and very noisy which may bother some people. The cottage is in a great location, ideal for access to shops and pubs. There is a walk across the Read moreroad so had no problem walking the dog on a morning. Only drove the car one day as plenty of walks from the door. Would stay again. Hide
