We must confess that we've been to Honeysuckle Cottage before so we're very familiar with the property and the area. The cottage is spacious and very well appointed, the phrase 'home from home' genuinely springs to mind. Beds were comfy, bedding and towels supplied were all clean as was the cottage on arrival. The underfloor heating works well aRead morend we found ourselves not needing to use the wood burner at all during our stay - despite the itch to do so - a real fire is so homely/inviting! All facilities in the kitchen work well, the dishwasher was well used - as was the washing machine for our muddy walking gear. We found plenty of storage for food in cupboards and the fridge/freezer. Lots of cooking equipment, plates and cutlery - we didn't need anything that wasn't there for us already. Of course the local pub is just some 100 yards from the door and there are plenty of places to eat/shop not that far away in Hawkshead, Coniston - Ambleside etc. We were there to chill out and do some walking - in the cottage the TV and Wi-Fi worked just fine so no issues in staying attached to the rest of the World if you want to. Lots of walks straight out of the door - which made the early morning walk with the pup a pleasure rather than a chore - it is a very peaceful location - especially that early or late. Stargazing from the garden (or just out of the village) is also an eye opener! We walked to Carran Crag, Hawkshead, around the Grizdale Forest (Forge Falls is not that far away) and to the Grizdale Centre when you can grab a bite, or if you're adventurous hire a bike/go Ape etc. Off road parking at the cottage is ample - we got our large SUV on the drive easy enough - and driving around wasn't a problem - most drivers 'get' the local roads and take things steady - there's always one though isn't there! Getting into Hawkshead or Ambleside for supplies/shopping by car was simple enough - parking isn't cheap but we considered that as our 'donation' towards the upkeep of the area. We also used Hawkshead as a base to get up to Latterbarrow, over to Wray Castle and to Tarn Hows. Nice welcome pack when we arrived was appreciated - all in all a very comfortable stay - no drama's and no gripes! Yes - we'd go back and probably will again soon enough! Hide

Beautiful house in a very quiet village. Warm and cosy - impressed by the Heat Pump - and well equipped. Central location for Grizedale Forest, Coniston water and Windermere. There is a pub in the village, with friendly staff and nice beers, but the food was very basic. Lots of other places to eat in the area. The house is a convenient spot to get around the lakes and had plenty of space for what we needed as 3 adults, one baby and 2 dogs. Its worth noting there are only bedside tables in the property so if youre staying for more than a night or two like us youll likely live out of your case. Such a fab cottage to stay in with friends. We're a group of 7 friends who stayed in Honeysuckle over the course of a week - close to so many local trails for walks and the visitor centre. Perfect way to get away from the world and technology and just enjoy the local area.
