All four of us would recommend this property. We were all delighted with the house and its contents, its location was perfect even though the weather was not. Really liked our stay overall, however kitchen is feeling its age. Also, the grouting needs replacing in a couple of the en-suites - I see this has been mentioned before (a year ago) and has not yet been actioned but should be for the price charged for the stay. Lovely location, felt very grand and we very much enjoyed our stay overall.

Hawkshead Hall is a beautiful house with a good balance between period features and modern comfort. It was really warm despite how spacious all of the rooms were. There was a lovely welcome pack and plenty of essentials like toilet rolls, washing up equipment and laundry aids. The location is perfect for exploring around Windermere and Coniston. A wonderful, warm, spacious and welcoming house, our 3rd visit for a family reunion of 3 generations. Four really lovely bedrooms with 4 bathrooms, 3 en-suite. We just love it. The kitchen is large and very well equipped and to top it all an AGA, home from home.

Spacious, well-equipped house in a good location, only 10 mins walk down footpaths to reach the centre of Hawkshead village. The house is split into 2 properties, so you occupy half of the building you see in the photos (though all the rooms shown, of course). The neighbours did not bother us at all, it's a quiet area with only a little noise from Read morefarm machinery. Could be improved with better cleaning, as the floors etc were a bit dirty when we arrived. Hide

The house needs TLC to give it the wow factor it could achieve. A deep clean and basic maintenance needed : regrout showers, cracks in the wallpaper/paint, hoover around doorways & windows ( cobwebs in all rooms ), for example. Also, we could only get BBC on the ( very small ) telly and found no way to correct it. Some curtains partly hung off railRead mores. The wardrobe in the largest bedroom needs to have the handles put back on the compartments down the RHS. Water pipes banged loudly on occasion. Hide

The house is very well equipped and feels 'like home' It is in a quiet location (we are farmers so appreciated the closeness to a working farm) but very easy walk to the village. The house is lovely, and in a great location. It has a well equipped kitchen. The welcome pack was a nice touch. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. However, except for twin beds on the first floor, the mattresses were uncomfortable and hard. It would have been nice to have tvs in the bedrooms.
