Property code: OC-CLO

This home-from-home hideaway promises a relaxing retreat in the ancient market town of Sudbury. A fabulous base for couples to enjoy a romantic escape with their pooch or a small gathering of friends looking to roam the Suffolk countryside.

Feel right at home as soon as you step into this open-plan living, kitchen and dining area. Settled on a quiet residential lane, The Cartlodge is a spacious and airy property that has been furnished to a high standard for you and your pooch. Coupled with neutral tones for ultimate cosiness, the cottage features a country-style kitchen and range-style cooker for rustling up those night-in meals and titbits for Rufus. Sink into nearby sofas with a good book and a glass of red, with your pooch curled up at your feet. Continuing on the ground floor, a modern bathroom sits close by, whilst upstairs, recuperate in one of the two bedrooms, one of which has a king-size bed and the other, a single. There’s also a handy cloakroom too, fit for hanging up coats and leads after a long walk in the country. Outside, unwind in your very own private courtyard garden where your four-legged pal can chew on a bone in the sunshine.

For the history buffs, head 1 mile from the cottage into the town centre to admire spectacular Victorian architecture interlaced with Georgian manor houses, impressive churches, and 19th-century silk weaver’s cottages. We’re sure Rufus will love the stroll too, however, if playing fetch in the countryside is more their speed, there are ample opportunities to leave no stick unturned along the delightful riverside trail of Sudbury Water Meadows.

We had a lovely time at this cottage and it was all quite easy to book. The location was perfect for us and our dog and we were able to relax.

The cottage is comfortable, clean and very well equipped. It is in the ideal location from which to explore the many attractions Suffolk has to offer such as Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham, Melford, Flatford Mill and the Anglo-Saxon village at West Stow.

A lovely light filled cottage, excellent location for exploring Suffolk, could possibly do with a new settee and chair as it now sinks fairly low when you sit on it, wonderfully well equipped in kitchen and spotlessly clean, we have stayed here four times now
