Property code: OC-LLH08

Set on a quiet cul-de-sac just outside Hawkshead village and with pretty countryside views, this modernised cottage really has the best of both worlds. The house is ideal for small groups of friends or family looking to explore the idyllic Lake District, with bike storage, a small garden for furry companions and plenty of space to spread out.

There’s a modern feel throughout the house, with an especially welcoming living/dining room with wood burner, TV and dining table for six. An additional lounge featuring an open fire and second TV means that there’ll be no squabbles over the remote either. Open up the French doors from the dining room to enjoy your morning coffee at one of the two garden seating areas while the dog snuffles around - opt for a secluded leafy table to the rear of the property or enjoy far-reaching views of the village and hills from the front. At the end of a busy day, three comfortable bedrooms will provide a peaceful night’s sleep for everyone.

It’s a 150-metre walk to the centre of the village which has a grocery shop, several pubs and plenty of local stores and cafes. Visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the grammar school where William Wordsworth was once a pupil or head off on one of the many walking/cycling trails in the area. Explore Wray Castle on the shores of Lake Windermere, 3 miles away, or walk up to Claife Heights, 6 miles, for some spectacular views over the pristine waters. Take the ferry across or drive the 9 miles to Bowness-on-Windermere town where you can have a wander around or take a leisurely cruise on the lake itself.

A superb house on the edge of Hawkshead. Spacious, bright and modern with some nice period features. I hardly dare recommend it too highly as we stay there every year!

A great house/cottage in a good location central to the south east Lake District. Well equipped and modern especially the downstairs kitchen and open lounge. The log burner in the kitchen lounge area made things very cosy even on a cold night in June! Loads of information on walks and plenty of games and puzzles to keep amused during the evenings.
