Nestled a stick’s throw from Bassenthwaite Lake, with walks through the Lake District National Park beginning from the doorstep, this family-friendly country cottage is perfect for anyone keen to reconnect with the great outdoors.

Hang up the leash in the entrance hallway before following the crackle of the wood burner into the first lounge or the warmth of the coal-effect electric fire into the second lounge. Leave your pup to doze on their special blanket and head into the spacious kitchen/diner that boasts contemporary country cottage style décor to tame the growl of hungry tummies. Upstairs, you’ll find four bedrooms that feature tail-wagging views to wake up to; one king-size, one twin zip-and-link (can be made up as a super-king-size), one twin and one bunk bedroom (suitable for children only). The family bathrooms upstairs offer everything you need to wash off a long day on the local trails. Outside, the enclosed lawned garden is the perfect space for playful pups to soak up some sunshine whilst the whole family dines alfresco (dogs must be kept on leads outside due to the sheep in the surrounding fields). There is private parking for four cars at the property.

At the heart of the Lake District National Park, this scenic spot moments from the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake offers some wonderful walks to enjoy with your canine companion in tow. Opposite the scenic Dubwath Silver Meadows Nature Reserve (2.5 miles) and through a woodland and wildflower meadow, refuel with your pup at your side after a long walkies in a restored railway station at Bassenthwaite Lake Station 2.5 miles away. Whinlatter Forest Park 10 miles away is home to some brilliant tracks and trails to explore by bike, as well as some delightful woodland walks where you’ll find plenty of sticks to fetch.

  • 4 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 2 twins (1 can be converted to a super-king on request), 1 bunk bedroom (for children only)

We had a wonderful stay, house is really cozy and very comfortable. All the little extras (blankets for the dogs, basket of treats on arrival, cookbook to help with cooking on the aga) were really helpful. And the easy method for paying for electric car charger was brilliant - really helpful so we could do lots of exploring in the beautiful Lakes! Read moreWonderful holiday- thank you!! Hide
