In a peaceful spot on the fringes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this delightful country cottage offers a serene escape for families, friends and doggie chums. It's located within the scenic village of Redmire, in a welcoming community setting featuring a local pub (150 metres) known for its delicious home-cooked meals. On arrival, be sure to admire the elegant stone exterior before stepping inside to a beautifully presented family home. Original touches like ceiling beams and bare brickwork contribute to a pleasant traditional atmosphere, while the stylish decor takes the form of patterned fabrics, gentle colour schemes and quality wooden furniture. The heart of the home is the spacious lounge, where a wood burner creates a cosy spot for tired dogs to rest. In the adjacent kitchen/dining room, you can tuck into family meals next to glass doors looking out to the garden and magnificent countryside views beyond. Dogs and children will adore the rear garden, featuring a furnished patio for outdoor dining, a BBQ for fair-weather meals and a quaint summerhouse.

There are numerous trails for walking and cycling you can sniff out with your dogs trotting alongside you, such as the 11-mile-long Marrick Priory and Greets Hill loop (1 mile). Cotter Force (13.5 miles) has an easily accessible path that's suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, while the ruins of Jervaulx Abbey (10 miles) is a great one for history fans. If you fancy moseying round a typically Yorkshire town, head to Leyburn (4 miles) or Hawes (12 miles).

This is probably the best holiday cottage I have ever stayed in. The location is perfect in the centre of the village but quiet with fields at the back and a beautiful view. It is nicely decorated with fantastic bathrooms and kitchen and a lovely big sitting room. Absolutely perfect.
