A whitewashed country cottage enveloped by a sprawling enclosed lawn and nestled in the heart of the South Lake District. This spacious abode is the perfect escape for multigenerational families or groups of friends plus a couple of furry amigos. Four-pawed adventurers can scramble atop boulders and bound through the beautifully rugged landscape of Coniston Fells (7 miles), before sniffing out every nook and cranny of the landscaped garden.

Brimming with character, this stylish property features a warm interior with exposed beams, warm wood textures, and earthy neutral tones throughout. Stepping inside, towel down muddy paws before padding into the inviting farmhouse kitchen. Whip up an extra meaty supper for your doe-eyed dogs then gather the pack around the glossy dining table. Retire to the comfort of the lounge and sprawl out on the squishy leather sofas with a brew. Blether into the early hours over a drink, perch on the padded window seat with a novel, or simply gaze at your snoozy hounds curled up by the cracking wood burner. Let the creative juices flow in the mezzanine level study, slink away to the snug, or throw open the patio doors to let balmy evening air drift inside. Upstairs, discover five elegant bedrooms arranged in a variety of configurations to suit the whole gang. Each boasts soft throws, coordinating wooden furniture, and peaceful views. Outdoors, let high-energy hounds roam free on the enclosed lawn while the humans tuck into an al fresco breakfast on the raised patio.

Dine alongside the dog-loving locals in the friendly cafes of Broughton-In-Furness (1 mile) before embarking on a scenic jaunt along the iconic Hardknott Pass (14 miles). Pack some snacks and traverse the glistening lakes edge of Coniston Water (11.5 miles) – the perfect location for a spot of post-picnic doggy paddling.

Beautiful, comfortable place in a peaceful location but near to a village with shops and a couple of pubs. The cottage is a high-spec conversion - warm, comfortable with loads of equipment for cooking. There are games, firewood for the 2 stoves etc etc. Brilliant place and we could easily have stayed longer there's so much to do in the area.

This was our 3rd visit to Boothwaite Nook. It feels like home. Its incredibly well equipped. Beds really comfy. Huge garden to run around in for the kids. Loads of space. We went to the local pub for tea one evening and were given a really warm welcome. We will be back.

A lovely quirky cottage. Two staircases so someone with no sense of direction took a while to get used to it! The garden is huge, plenty of space for dogs to run. We thought the supply of bird food was a good touch.
