Steeped with character and history, this Grade II-listed property dates back 400 years and sets the scene for a truly unique family holiday. Sleeping nine within the main house and attached cottage, get all the family together, including those with four legs, to explore all that the dramatic and atmospheric Jurassic Coast has to offer. Pack the swimming stuff, a ball and frisbee and get ready for some energised fun!

Surrounded by exposed beams, curved oak panelling and Purbeck flagstone floors, this house exudes history. With both a snug and lounge, there is plenty of space to spread out for some peace and quiet, although the lounge has the added benefit of a wood burner, so make sure you get a spot for sprawling in the warmth! Enjoy social meals in the dining room, or grab a bite in the kitchen and let your furry friend pad through to the courtyard to stretch those legs. The additional cottage has a door which opens onto the garden, perfect for unwinding with an alfresco meal and a drink in the evening. The two lovely terraced lawns are reached via a few steps, with flower beds and trees where your canine companion can while away the hours sniffing, snouting and rambling through the undergrowth.

Close to Lulworth Cove and Stair Hole (both half a mile), local attractions include the natural arch at Durdle Door (1.5 miles) and the Fossil Forest on the Lulworth Estate (0.5 miles). Nearby beaches include Man O’War Beach (1.5 miles), Worbarrow Beach (3 miles) and Ringstead Bay (11 miles) for lots of splashing in the waves and coastal walkies. The cottage is very well situated and the parking is very useful. All the rooms suited our party very well and the lovely courtyard was a great place to sit and eat and chat. Lovely place to stay and would stay again.

The pictures and descriptions/details of this beautiful house don't quite do it justice. It is not only spacious, comfortable and attractive but also admirably well-furnished and -equipped. There were only the five of us but there would have been ample space for more without feeling unduly crowded. We have encountered places with insufficient coRead moremfortable seating/table space for full occupancy but not so here The courtyard and rear gardens are a delight, pleasant and well-sheltered. A couple of small problems were very quickly remedied with neither inconvenience to us nor detriment to our stay. FYI, in case you have misunderstood (or was it just me...?), the annexe is joined to the main house - yet it remains a quiet haven, ideal for a mixed-age group with differing routines The whole village is delightful; we particularly enjoyed a dinner and a breakfast at the nearby pub. There is a handy beach/general shop on the road down to the beach. We would all recommend Churchfield House unreservedly. Hide

An amazingly well equipped cottage for a large family party. We particularly appreciated the milk, tea and biscuits when we first arrived. The equipment for our babies and our four legged companions was excellent. All in all one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

Stayed for a family get-together over Easter weekend. The house is very large and comfortable - very well-equipped kitchen (induction hob) and lots of room for everyone. Perfect cottage for our party of 8 (5 adults, 3 small children and a pug) with all possible utensils and equipment supplied. Well worn historic building with no worries about small children damaging anything. Our second visit and a perfect location for cove and other attractions. Shame price is so much more expensive for summer breaks.

A group of 8 of my family stayed at Churchfield House for my grandparents 50th anniversary. The cottage exceeded our expectations and was even better than the photos. Perfect amount of space for hosting without feeling on top of each other. Location was ideal, a short walk from local pubs and the beach. Highly recommend!
