We know your dogs count as family, so it’s great that up to two pooches can share your holiday at this cute North Norfolk cottage with vernacular flint walls. Located in the village of Syderstone, it makes the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stately homes and grounds plus other tranquil inland villages either as a family or group of friends.
The interiors of this end-of-terrace traditional cottage have a quaint and cosy feel but the finish is of a very high standard, with all mod cons and sleek lines. Do be mindful, however, that the front door comes straight into the living area, so have towels and dog beds to hand for any potentially mucky or damp pups! The inviting lounge has comfortable sofas, an ornamental fireplace and practical wood floors. Self-catering is no problem in the well-equipped modern fitted kitchen. Upstairs, a king-size, twin and single bedroom offer great versatility – they all provide calming spaces for a great night’s sleep. An enclosed rear garden has furniture for those sundowners under big East Anglian skies while canine chums dream of rabbits.
The market town of Fakenham is 7 miles away for stocking up on supplies. But, if you love nothing better than watching your dogs go mutts on the beach, pack your bucket and spade. There’s sand as far as the eye can sea at Brancaster (10 miles), also famous for mussels, perennial family favourite Hunstanton (13 miles), Holkham (10.5 miles) and Wells-next-the-sea (9.5 miles). Do check for seasonal dog restrictions, however. The royal Sandringham Estate is within 11 miles, while Holkham Estate is 10.5 miles. Well-behaved dogs on leads obviously can’t go into the halls, but are allowed in the parkland.
