Escape to this large, upside-down, stone cottage that’s crammed with character – perfect for a large family or group of friends to enjoy. Dogs will be well catered for being so close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, but there’s also a fireplace for canine companions to warm themselves beside after an energetic day exploring.

Inside, guests are welcomed into a spacious entrance hall which is handy for hanging coats, dog leads and wellies. On the ground floor are two bedrooms, one is a king-size, the other a twin – both of which can use the downstairs bathroom. The upper living space, however, is one of the house’s main attractions. It has a cosy and stylish lounge, and retains charming, open, oak beamed ceilings. Across the hallway is the kitchen with everything guests should need for an easy self-catering holiday. The formal dining room is downstairs, but guests can eat around the kitchen island if they prefer. Off the lounge are the final two bedrooms. One is a king-size, while the other is a super-king with its own private balcony for admiring the fells. The second bathroom is on this level. Outside, the garden is fully enclosed – making letting the dogs out easy – with a patio with a dining set and BBQ. There’s also a fantastic games room with a multi-games table and full-sized bar as well as a Smart TV.

Ideally situated in the popular village of Kettlewell, this lovely holiday retreat is set against dramatic landscapes but also has charming village pubs on its doorstep. Dogs are always welcomed, often with a treat or two, while hikers and cyclists will be well catered for thanks to some of the best walks and cycle routes in the area starting from the village.

The cottage looked to be everything we would want from a stay in the Yorkshire Dales. A very picturesque location, with many walks straight from the door. However, the cleanliness and general upkeep let us down, as did the damp carpet by the main bedroom patio door. The property lacked some of the basics needed for a self catering stay. We enjoyed our stay! The village is small & quiet. It's well located near to other larger villages with more amenities and were well placed to explore the Dales. The pub is practically next door and they do great food. The games room was brilliant, and we also enjoyed the lovely garden space. We were moved to this cottage shortly before our holiday as there was a problem with the original cottage that we had booked. The property wasn't very clean, chrismas crackers from previous occupants swept into a cupboard, a dirty cup with dregs of coffee left in the games room and a dirty towel left hanging in the bathroom . This house was a disappointment. Not a 5 star house. The furnishings are old, dated and not very comfortable. There is a small, half fridge in the kitchen which isn't sufficient for an 8 person accommodation. The downstairs dining room is unusable because you would have to carry your food down the stairs, through a hallway, out a door, across the bRead moreack patio, through the game room and then into the dining room.
