Property code: OC-IC008

Surrounded by woodland, with popular Arne RSPB nature reserve on the doorstep, this large five-bedroom cottage is a fantastic find for a family gathering or friends holidaying together. Dating back to 1863, the house has had a superb renovation with a quality finish and is perfectly set up for big groups. Ample parking makes your arrival easy, and your canine traveller can head straight out into the fenced garden to stretch his legs. Walks through forests, over heathland and down to shingly shores awaiting you here in this peaceful haven.

The heart of this welcoming home is the kitchen, where two ovens, two microwaves, a double Belfast sink and an American-style fridge-freezer make cooking for the whole group a breeze. There’s an island so you can rope in some helpers and a dining table for long catch-ups over leisurely meals. Bi-fold doors open up the space even more; let the kids take the dog outside to play while you linger over coffee and desserts or move the entire meal outside if the weather allows. With the bedrooms split over the two floors, older kids or families with babies can enjoy a little seclusion, while the bright, spacious lounge can accommodate everyone for raucous game nights and cosy family films in front of the log burner.

When you’re ready to head out and explore, the RSPB nature reserve is just 100 metres down the road. There’s a range of trails that Fido (on the lead) can trot along on too, and a host of birds to spot, as well as deer and even lizards. Head into neighbouring heathland to let the dog run free, and maybe even tackle a longer stroll to impressive Corfe Castle (5 miles) or the market town of Wareham (4 miles) if you’re all feeling energetic.

  • 5 bedrooms - 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 twin and 1 single
  • 1 bathroom, 1 shower room and 1 separate WC
  • 2 microwaves, 2 electric ovens and hob, fridge/freezer with ice compartment, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer
  • Log Burner (logs included)
  • Off-road parking for 3 cars
  • 1 medium-sized dog welcome
  • Amenities a short drive away
  • Smart TV/DVD in lounge and TV/DVD in double bedroom
  • A short drive from the Saxon town of Wareham and charming village of Corfe Castle
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 1 dog allowed. Additional charges may apply

What an amazing location the cottage is in! It was also very comfortable for a group of ten people with super beds and sofas. The kitchen was well equipped and great for self catering but there are also many super restaurants and cafes on trips out. Walking straight from cottage into the nature reserve was special. Highly recommended for any natureRead more lovers! Hide

A beautiful home in the best location, very spacious ,comfortable beds.Sadly the mould in the lounge and the front upstairs bedroom was an issue for my adult daughter with asthma. The cleanliness wasnt the best,we needed to remove cobwebs and dead wood lice and spiders from the bedrooms and lounge. The lounge furniture was stained ,luckily I had tRead moreaken some Christmas throws to cover them. The large supply of logs was excellent and kept us toasty each evening. The cottage is in a beautiful location within easy walking distance of RSPB arne. It's a good size for 10 people with a good sized outdoor space. It was good value. But the cottage does need updating, lots of bits are loose or falling apart. There was also rot growing out of the wall in the living room. It wasn't the cleanest. Under beds hadn't beeRead moren hoovered, there were dirty spoons covered in yoghurt in the drawer. Overall it could be better. The location is the reason to stay at this cottage. Hide

Great house for large groups of friends and families with spacious kitchen/diner. Garden well kept and lovely to sit in. Beautiful area in RSPB reserve. Wareham is a short drive with pubs on the river, restaurants and shops. Furnishings are a bit tired and cleanliness could be improved. But despite that had a fantastic holiday.

A delightful house and garden for a relaxing break. Some elements were a little tired in the main house and would have benefitted from a facelift. Kitchen however really well equipped, everything you could need, and sitting room relaxing with good TV and games. Splendid garden.
