This beautiful retreat in the heart of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) has everything you need for a memorable getaway. Packed with original features and complete with a crackling wood burner, there’s plenty of space for both two and four-legged adventurers, making this the perfect spot for families or groups of friends who love the great outdoors.
A steep farm track and ford lead to this secluded haven, where every room offers sweeping countryside views. Kick off muddy boots (and dry soggy paws) in the boot room before stepping into the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner. This bright and inviting space is flooded with natural light from bi-fold doors opening onto the garden. Gather around the large dining table to share meals prepared on the traditional Aga. The cosy lounge is a wonderful place to unwind, with vintage furnishings, exposed beams, a smart TV and bookshelves filled with good reads. A handy shower room rounds off the ground floor, while upstairs, you’ll find a stylish family bathroom and four delightful bedrooms – a king-size with an en-suite shower room, a second king-size, a twin room, and a bunk room (the top bunk has restricted headroom). Step outside and let your canine companion stretch their legs on the mountain paths leading from the grounds or enjoy a stroll down to Bala Lake. The decked seating area is a fantastic spot for morning coffee, or for a magical evening under the stars, fire up the charcoal pizza oven and gather around the fire pit. Private parking for three cars is provided.
Step straight from the door onto walking and cycling trails, or head to Bala Lake for a day of sailing, paddleboarding, or simply splashing about with your tail-wagging travel companion. 2.5 miles away, the historic market town of Bala is brimming with independent cafes, traditional pubs, and local shops where you can stock up on delicious Welsh produce. Stroll along the lakeside and soak up the mountain views, or hop aboard the vintage steam railway for a nostalgic trip through the countryside. For adventures without the hound, try white-water rafting at the National White Water Centre (3 miles) and the underground thrills of Zip World Slate Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog (15 miles).
