Property code: OC-W30959

This charming family home is in the village of Brockenhurst, in the heart of the New Forest National Park. The rural retreat welcomes six guests and one hound, and is ideal for both families and groups of friends; with two lounge areas and a light-filled conservatory, you and your canine buddy will have ample space to spread out and relax. Enjoy days out from the cottage to Buckler’s Hard, Beaulieu, and the Isle of Wight.

After passing through the gate and along the drive, you’ll reach your New Forest retreat. Inside, leave outdoor attire and dog leads in the hallway, before getting cosy in the snug with a film on the Smart TV and your furry companion stretched out in front of the wood burner. Alternatively, head through to the spacious lounge, where a second wood burner and Smart TV await, meaning that there will be no arguments over what to watch in the evenings! The sleek kitchen/diner is a joy to cook in, with everything needed for a self-catering holiday and a choice of dining areas at the breakfast bar and dining table. Just off the kitchen/diner is a sunny conservatory with rattan seating – the ideal spot to sip a morning coffee and plan your day. This is also a good place for the hound to hang out, away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. Completing the ground floor is an inviting double bedroom and a family bathroom. Upstairs, nestled in the eaves, are the remaining two bedrooms (a twin with a single and small double, and a double room with cot) and a handy shower room. From the conservatory, doors lead to the enclosed garden where you can dine on the patio in summer months, whilst your waggy-tailed chum plays on the grass. The property has private parking for four cars.

The village of Brockenhurst is bursting with charm; you may even spot the odd pony or cow ambling past your front gate. The village has a good range of local shops, as well as pubs, cafes, and restaurants. There are some fabulous walks to enjoy from the village, including along the River Lymington or through Beachern Wood. Further afield, spend the day soaking up the history at the beautifully preserved Buckler’s Hard (7.5 miles) or wander amongst the magnificent floral displays at Exbury Gardens (9 miles).

Fabulous position. A soulless interior. Good equipment but talk people only can use the microwave safely.

Lovely cottage and absolutely excellent location, especially for our four legged friend! Woodside Cottage is within the New Forest so brilliantly located for all those walkies! The children loved having all the ponies on their doorstep and were blown away by the cows walking past the cottage too!

We just had a 5 night stay at Woodland Cottage. The cottage was in the perfect position, we hardly had to get in the car. Walks directly from the door and Brockenhurst down, just a 20 min walk for good shops and pubs. The cottage was so comfy and well equipped that we didnt eat out, the kitchen had everything we needed and was lovely to relax in Read morethe conservatory, and on the bench in the garden. We would definitely return! Hide

The house is in a perfect location. Directly opposite the forest. Spacious and light, but lacking any personal touches and certainly not luxurious. Very few pictures and ornaments. No books. Felt very clinical. Clean and with a good range of equipment. Far too expensive.

We visit the New Forest twice a year and stay in cottages. We picked this one for the first time. My expectations were very much higher than what we found especially considering the price we paid! When we got there opened the front door to be met with a horrible musty smell, not a great start. One of our family decided to sleep in the bedroom with Read moretwo beds, not for long I must add. There was a massive older cobweb growing from a wooden box across to the bed, it actually joined the duvet. That looked clearly like a cleaner had been in sometime previous and no one had slept in there so they didn't need to go in there. That was the end of that bedroom then, as this person doesn't like spiders so wouldn't go in there. They slept in the upstairs double bedroom. Very hot at night up there, took the cover off the duvet to use that at night for a cooler night, and would you believe the disgusting thing..... There was old blood on the actual duvet!! This couldn't have been missed changing bedding. There was lots of big older cobwebs upstairs, dirty bathroom blind, ants were coming out the cracks in the conservatory corner windowsill. For the price paid I could have cried, I never expected this. There was some long life milk sachets in a bag in the fridge, not very impressive again for the price, two reed diffusers in the cottage, but both were empty and totally dried up, no smell left at all on them. The sofa in the snug, was nothing to make that room (snug). It was a hard boxed feel, I would recommend a comfy sofa be put in there. The soap was just a Waitrose essential, yet again a lot of money spent on the holiday, I would have thought something that looked a bit better. There is a new wheelie bin system going on at the New Forest, so the sign needs updating in the house of that to do with the rubbish. We did what was instructed in the house and got told off by the bin men. It would have been nice for more than one toilet roll in each toilet, this is the first cottage I have experienced this. This could be made into a really nice holiday cottage, it has the potential. The kitchen is great, nice and clean and everything you could want and more in there. I must add the downstairs bedroom is the best, it has lots of wardrobe space, that is not available upstairs. A little tip for anyone staying, if you like a lie in, sleep in the downstairs bedroom, there is a cockeral out the back that makes its morning noise very early in the morning as they do. Hide
