At this welcoming lodge, you can enjoy soaks in the hot tub, meals at the on-site restaurant and nightcaps on the decked terrace with your canine friend close by. The wooden holiday home is located within a peaceful country park in the heart of the pretty Northumbrian countryside, with lovely walks right from your doorstep. Perfectly positioned between Morpeth and Alnwick, it offers a relaxing base for you and your four-legged companion to explore the best of the region.

This Viking themed cabin-style lodge has stairs leading up to the decked terrace, which leads into a stylish open-plan living area. Your pet can snooze by the cosy pebble-effect electric fire while you cook in the glossy white kitchen. On mild days, open up the large patio doors to let the outdoors in. There are two tranquil bedrooms – one double and one twin. A contemporary family bathroom completes the space. Outside, the spacious decked terrace is wonderful for morning coffees and al fresco meals. There’s also a handy outdoor tap for rinsing off muddy boots and paws. Private parking for one car is available just outside.

When it’s time to explore the area, Druridge Bay Beach (8 miles) has 3 miles of golden sand and rolling dunes – wonderful for zoomies and games of fetch (dogs welcome all year round). At Amble (11 miles) you can explore the bustling harbour before some lunch in a pet-friendly café. Seafaring dogs can take a trip to Coquet Island, where you may spot puffins and seals. If you fancy a bit of history, head to Warkworth Castle (10 miles) where dogs on leads are welcome.

This is not a quiet lodge near a lake. It is on a caravan style a site that has a combination of lodge and caravans. There is a pub/restaurant and shop in the centre with additional parking and large bouncy castle which also has karaoke and bingo. Great if you like that but it is not quiet! We booked this lodge for a quiet week next to a lake. We wRead moreere across a road and then a row of real lodges in front of ours before the lake so calling it a lake view feels a little off. The site itself was quite noisy with people walking by, children playing on bikes and then the noise from other people and the Crazy Horse (bar/restuarant/shop) which did go on until 10.30pm one night. The lodge was dirty on arrival and in poor condition. The master bedroom did not have wardrobe doors so you were left facing a hoover, kitchen floor cleaner and other spare bedding etc. The headboard had been damaged previously and had a temporary fix which was poly filler/plaster applied to the wall which looked awful. The beds/pillows were extremely uncomfortable and had hairs on the bedding when we arrived. The owner did come and clean the childrens bedroom and living area on request but it wasnt much of an improvement. When my daughter lost her ring we moved the beds and settees trying to find it only to be greeted by dirt, wrappers and a coat hanger - not of which were ours! If you are looking for a quiet stay dont come here. I cried when we arrived and spent most of our time off site due to the cleanliness issues and certainly didnt cook in the lodge. I dont feel this is advertised to what it really is or where its location is. To say it is a dog friendly holiday there were limited walks on the caravan site so again another reason for not spending time there. Hide

Main bedroom smelt of smoke and when I complained, nothing was done. Living room and kitchen heat up to unacceptable levels so have to keep all food including non perishables in fridge. Outside was dirty and full of cobwebs. Monday and Friday mornings they lose water pressure and no hot water.

Good spot, full sun on the veranda. Bathroom & kitchen cleaning kits left, plus loads of other helpful utensils, clean tea towels. Bedding & towels of good quality. Little bit dated, but expected when dogs are allowed. Jacuzzi was great & does get a bit of sun & private compared to the others. Only one walk from site which was disappointing but thaRead morets because we like to walk the dogs in the evening. Didnt go to pub on site. Quiet end of the site which was nice. Be prepared to feed swans & robins - cute. Hide

Overall a nice clean property which makes a good base to visit all the great locations nearby. The property feels a little dated and lacked a few things such as a hoover (needed when you've got dogs with you!), an organised welcome pack and the water temp in the shower was either scalding hot or freezing. The outside decking and furntiure were fullRead more of cobwebs which was a shame as it would have been nice to sit out there in the sunshine. We feel like it wouldn't take much tweaking for this to be a really great holiday property in a fantastic location. Hide
