With woodland walks on the doorstep and glorious sandy beaches a short drive away, this spacious lodge in the unspoiled Northumberland countryside is sure to prompt a woof of approval from your canine companions. The pet-friendly retreat is one of a complex of similar properties in the peaceful setting of Percy Woods Country Park. Sleeping four guests and two dogs, it is ideal for a family or a group of friends sharing. Walkies through the wooded grounds are heaven for faithful hounds, with exciting new smells to discover, and their own special exercise area. Guests have free use of an 18-hole gold course with an on-site bar/restaurant and there’s also a children’s playground.
The welcoming open-plan interior of your holiday home is thoughtfully furnished in neutral tones with touches of bright colour. Comfortable seating and a wood burner effect electric fire in the lounge area make this a wonderfully relaxing space, with ample room for doggie beds or blankets. The roomy kitchen section comes with all you need to get cooking, and there’s a stylish dining table. Sleep well after a day of sea or country air in two charming bedrooms: a double with an en-suite shower room and a twin, along with a family bathroom. Outside, the large, decked and fully enclosed terrace houses a hot tub, with outdoor furniture and distant country views. There is off-road, private parking for two cars.
Watch your four-legged friends run free on unspoiled golden beaches that stretch for miles along the beautiful Northumbrian coast. They include Amble Links and Druridge Bay (both 10 miles), where you can follow the Northumberland Coast Path. Look out for seals and puffins on a boat trip from Amble Harbour around Coquet Island, 1 mile offshore (well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome aboard). They are also invited to share a tour of medieval Warkworth Castle, just 1.5 miles away, with breathtaking views of the River Coquet and coast. Visit the National Trust’s Cragside (9.5 miles), a spectacular Victorian mansion set in a fantasy mountain garden, with a special sitting area for dogs in the tearoom.
