Escape to the South Wales countryside in this paw-friendly bolthole in Cwmafan. Sleeping six guests and three furry companions, the spacious property is perfect for spending quality time with family and friends. You’ll be nestled amongst the beautiful Afan Valley, with a myriad of walking trails directly from your front door. The cottage is also just 11.5 miles from Afan Forest Park. After a long, countryside ramble, return to your holiday home to relax by the wood burner or soak in the hot tub.
The rural hideaway sits at the top of a country lane on a working farm. Inside, the property is bursting with character, with stone walls, exposed beams, and a wonderful collection of quirky furniture and accessories. At the heart of the home is a striking lounge/diner with far-reaching countryside views and a roaring wood burner in one corner – the perfect dozing spot for your canine buddies. Spend time here, relaxing on the plump sofas with your holiday read, or watching a film on the Smart TV. To the rear of the room, up a couple of steps, is an elegant dining area for sharing mealtimes together. The separate, country-style kitchen is equipped with everything needed to rustle up hearty meals for everyone. Completing the ground floor is a stylish wet room. Heading upstairs, you’ll find three inviting bedrooms. Choose from a king-size bedroom with a Juliet balcony and sea views, a delightful twin, or a flexible family room. A bathroom with a gorgeous free-standing bath completes the accommodation. Please note, the first floor has sloping ceilings, and you may experience restricted head height in some areas. Outside, you and the dogs can soak up your surroundings on the peaceful patio, where you’ll find furniture for al fresco dining and a relaxing hot tub for reviving weary limbs after a long dog walk. There is private parking available for three cars.
Afan Forest Park is a paradise for walkers and four-pawed explorers, with a whole host of waymarked trails to scamper along. The forest is also great for mountain biking, should you wish to explore on two wheels. Margam Country Park (8 miles) also makes an excellent doggy day out; the sprawling estate has some beautiful trails through ancient woodlands and around majestic lakes. For a day at the coast, journey to the vibrant town of Port Talbot (4 miles). Take a relaxing walk with the hounds along the promenade, or head down to the sandy beach, where you’ll find a large section that welcomes pups all year.
