Situated on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park, the pretty village of Goathland offers plenty of tracks and trails to explore on foot or two wheels, if your four-pawed pal can keep up. Half a mile away, have a ball walking the renowned 3-mile circular route of Mallyan Spout, descending into the valley to visit the fetching Mallyan Spout waterfall on your journey. Take the lead to nearby Whitby (9 miles) to race your canine companion up the iconic 199 Whitby Abbey Steps to be rewarded with panoramic views over the ruins of the gothic abbey and coastline beyond.
