A gorgeous property with lovely sea views and the South West Coast Path just 1 mile away, this six-person holiday home is made for a trip with the dog. It’s in the charming South Devon village of East Prawle, known affectionately as ‘pig country’. The local (and dog-friendly) pub is just 100 metres from your front door, along with a seasonal cafe and shop on the green. The nearby South Devon National Landscape incorporates a rugged coastline, soaring cliffs and rolling fields – perfect for adventures with your pup!

With its whitewashed exterior, this cottage has a true holiday look and feel, alongside traditional touches inside that add warmth and charm. Downstairs, there’s a garage for storing bikes and kayaks, plus a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. Head upstairs to find an attractive open-plan living area with sofas facing a Smart TV and a wood burner where your pet can warm her fur. Prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchen then enjoy them with a view at the dining area by the window. Down the hallway, you’ll find a spacious double bedroom along with a snug single containing an additional Z-bed – ideal for two kids. A family bathroom with a luxurious bath completes the upstairs space. In good weather, make the most of the balcony with bar seating, accessible from the lounge – wonderful for watching the sun go down with your furry friend at your side. The enclosed garden below has plenty of space for your dog to roam freely while you enjoy the fresh air. This property offers on-street parking.

Locally, explore hidden beaches and charming bays on foot, perhaps taking a scenic walk to East Portlemouth (3 miles). Here, you can board the ferry to Salcombe (3.5 miles) and wander round its shops, eateries and pretty harbour. The quiet and dog-friendly Lannacombe Beach (3.5 miles), a picturesque stretch backed by rugged cliffs, is ideal for picnicking, snorkelling and games of fetch.

The Lookout has a great location with a sea view. It is homely and comfortable - including the beds. Whilst a little scruffy round the edges it was relaxing and well equipped. The downstairs room were a little damp but the supplied dehumidifier sorted it out. We were really excited about staying in such proximity to the coastal path and this part of the holiday did not disappoint. East Prawle is a very quiet village but has an excellent local pub and also cafe and shop which are handy, and you can walk straight from the village and get onto the coastal path. The cottage, however, was a big disappointRead morement. The cleanliness was a poor standard, the property wasn't tidy and so many items were broken. There were also significant DIY jobs and cosmetic upgrades required- it seemed like it had been done up in a rush by someone who did not enjoy DIY at all! Overall it was not an acceptable standard to be hosting paying guests. This is a shame as it could be an amazing bolthole for staying near Salcombe, it needs an injection of cash and a bit of an overhaul. Hide
