The spacious lodge sits high above the Scottish village of Kippford, on the beautiful Solway Coast. The striking holiday home, which boasts far-reaching estuary views, sleeps six guests and two furry-pawed pals, making it ideal for both large families and groups of friends. There are several woof-friendly beaches within a 5-mile radius of the lodge, and nearby day trips include the foodie town of Castle Douglas (9.5 miles) and the artists’ paradise of Kirkcudbridge (19 miles).
The detached lodge sits in an elevated position, overlooking the estuary and surrounding countryside. Inside, the property boasts wood-clad walls, natural textures, and huge windows framing leafy vistas. Leave walking boots and dog leads in the hallway, before heading through to the magnificent lounge with its vaulted ceiling, impressive picture window, and roaring wood burner. Unwind here, after a walk with the pups, snuggled up on the plump sofa with a good movie on the Smart TV. Glass doors lead through to the spacious kitchen/diner, where you’ll find all the equipment needed for a self-catering break and a large, wooden dining table to seat everyone. In summer months, open the patio doors to the balcony so Rover and Fido can potter in and out. There’s also a table and chairs on the balcony, making it a lovely spot for a morning coffee. Completing this floor is a king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and access to a small balcony area. The remaining bedrooms and family shower room are on the first floor. Outside, a large garden envelops the property, with a sunny patio area with furniture for al fresco dining and a sloping lawn leading down to the summerhouse. The property has private parking for three cars.
Kippford is a charming coastal village with two paw-friendly pubs and a small village shop. There are some lovely, scenic walks in and around the village to enjoy with your furry sidekicks, such as the coastal path to Rockcliffe or the woodland trails in Dalbeattie Forest. For an afternoon at the beach, journey to the shores of Sandyhills Beach (4 miles), where canine visitors are welcome all year. History enthusiasts will be in their element, with several castles to explore nearby, including the fascinating, triangle-shaped Caerlaverock, 25 miles away.
