Sniff out some adventures in the Dalby Forest, staying in this appealing, pet-friendly holiday home for two guests and one pup. On the edge of the North York Moors, with the Yorkshire coastline ready to be explored (20 miles) and plenty of forest trails all around you, we couldn’t think of a better destination to escape to in the company of man’s best friend. Pack up a whole bunch of tennis balls and doggie treats when setting off on your adventures, always safe in the knowledge that comfort awaits you when you return home after every adventure.

In a calming, neutral colour scheme with comfort-focused furnishings, this lovely cottage is a restful retreat. The heart of the house is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a space where your pooch can gently doze off while the humans of the group cook, dine and settle down for a night in front of the TV in the background. Leave your sleeping dog to lie right here as you retire to bed, getting cosy in the king-size bedroom along the hallway. An en-suite bathroom with a refreshing walk-in shower unit completes the property’s interior. Outside, 6 acres of shared grounds include a wood-fired hot tub, sauna, woodland, river and a BBQ and outdoor wood burner, along with so much room for your dog to run around in.

Lace your walking boots and grab your lead as you head off to explore the Dalby Forest on your doorstep. This vast, treelined area includes endless footpaths for enjoying a different dog walk every day. Close to home, the gateway town of Pickering (7 miles) boasts historic streets, independent shops and a market, along with a railway station for boarding the North Yorkshire Moors railway line. This train journey is a pet-friendly day out with incredible national park scenery to be admired.

The cottage was hugely complimented by the glorious grounds and gardens of the main house. The freedom to walk round the gardens at leisure was a joy. They have been expertly landscaped and on each walk I found something more that I had missed previously. Dalby Forest is also a bonus.

Lovely accommodation area ideal for walkers and cyclists home from home cottage everything you needed even hot tub steam room nothing was too much for the hosts really enjoyed our stay gardens where amazing even did abit of star gazing x

Perfect little cottage with a lovely welcome basket on arrival. Everything you need, it has a home from home feel. The owners made us very welcome.
