You and your waggy-tailed walking pals can set off from the property to join nearby routes, such as the River Parrett Trail and The Monarch’s Way. Further afield, explore the idyllic beaches and dramatic cliff paths of the Jurassic Coast (12 miles).
The converted barn is set on a working, 60-acre farm and boasts several eco credentials, such as ground source energy and solar panels. Inside, you’ll be greeted by a vast, open-plan living space with a double-height ceiling, contemporary styling, underfloor heating and magnificent views through floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows. Taking centre stage is a banquet-style dining table for enjoying special mealtimes as a group. There’s also an inviting bar area for perching with a glass of wine, along with bean bags and easy chairs, giving you a variety of places to chill out and relax. At the far end of the room is a welcoming lounge area, with comfortable seating, stylish mood lighting and a cosy wood burner for warming toes and paws after a long walk. You’ll find a whole host of entertainment on offer including a Smart TV, projector and screen, collection of DVDs, board games and puzzles. On a summer’s day, slide open the bi-fold doors for indoor/outdoor living. Just off the main living space, up a few steps, you’ll find two handy WCs and a small kitchenette. The separate kitchen features sleek units, vibrant paintwork and all the equipment needed to cater for a large group. This room also has bi-fold doors opening onto the garden, making it a good spot to set up the dog beds. A spiral staircase leads to a handy utility area on a mezzanine level, before leading you a little further to the first floor. Here, you’ll be greeted by a cosy reading nook and beyond this the five stunning bedrooms. Each bedroom is decorated in calming tones and has its own en-suite facilities, Smart TV and electric blinds. Adjacent to the holiday home is auxiliary accommodation for two guests, accessed from the main property’s boot room via a spiral staircase. This first-floor, self-contained studio apartment has a double bed, lounge area, kitchenette, and shower room. Outside, your waggy-tailed chums will be in their element in the enclosed garden, with ample space to charge around on the expansive lawn. You’ll have a choice of outdoor seating areas, including sun loungers and a large table on the patio for sharing family BBQs. Within the grounds is a charming shepherd’s hut with a wood burner – the perfect place to retreat with a good book and a glass of wine at the end of a busy day. Outdoor games are provided for your entertainment, including croquet and table tennis. Ample private parking is available at the property.
Journey into the quaint town of Beaminster, 4.5 miles away, to explore its independent shops, many of which sell handmade gifts and local produce. The town has a good range of eateries and several cosy pubs. There are some beautiful National Trust properties in the area, including Mapperton House and Gardens (6 miles) and Montacute House (12.5 miles), where you can enjoy long walks with the hounds through the picturesque estates. For a day at the beach, head to Lyme Regis (17.5 miles) or Charmouth (16.5 miles), both of which welcome four-pawed visitors all year.
