Nestled in the charming village of Bolam, in the heart of County Durham, this delightful retreat offers direct access to tail-wagging dog walks and cycling trails from the doorstep. Bursting with rustic character, the cottage comes complete with a wood burner-effect fire in the cosy lounge and an enclosed garden perfect for ball games with Fido.

Enter into the inviting lounge, where wood flooring, exposed beams, and comfortable seating around an electric wood burner-style fire set in a stone fireplace await. Three steps lead to the open-plan kitchen/diner, where high ceilings and exposed beams enhance the sense of space. The well-equipped kitchen features everything you need to prepare delicious meals, and an electric Aga is available during the cooler winter months. French doors open to a rear patio area, and just off the kitchen, you’ll find a utility area and a shower room. Upstairs, there are two comfortable bedrooms—a king-size zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made up as twins upon request) and a double bedroom. A family bathroom completes the accommodations. Outside, the front of the property offers garden furniture and a BBQ, ideal for al fresco dining. The lawned area sits within a circular gravel driveway, and the garden can be enclosed using gates on either side, allowing your dogs to explore in safety. At the rear, there is a patio area with a bench seat. You’ll have access to an EV car charger (charges apply), and there’s parking for up to three cars.

Enjoy the convenience of a local pet-friendly pub, a general store 4 miles away, and larger supermarkets and takeaway options within a 5-mile radius. Spend a leisurely day at the historic Raby Castle (8 miles), where you can roam its magnificent deer park with Rover on the lead by your side. For a day trip, visit the vibrant university city of Durham (26 miles), where you can also enjoy relaxing riverside walkies. Closer to home, explore the medieval streets of Bishop Auckland (7 miles) and visit the Auckland Project, a unique collection of heritage attractions, galleries, gardens and parkland, where four-legged friends are welcome to join you.

A fantastic Cottage in a fantastic location. The owners are extremely friendly and efficient in answering any questions. The welcome pack was simply the best we have ever received. The well set out house rules meant it was easy to know what the owners wanted from their guests and this made the stay even more enjoyable. So many places to visit withiRead moren an hour. The property is truly a home from home. Really spacious for the 3 of us with the best welcome hamper we have ever received. The cottage was super clean and so comfortable. The pictures honestly don't do it enough justice. Such a pieceful village with lots to see and do just a short car journey away. We will definitely go back.

A beautfully appointed, warm, very clean, cosy cottage situated in a quiet village. Well situated for easy access to Barnard Casle, Raby Castle and Durham slightly further afield. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and furnished to perfection. Excellent - very well equipped and presented cottage in a quiet location yet was also close to main routes. Warm welcome from hosts, and a very well put together welcome hamper. Everything we would have wanted was found, particularly in the kitchen. For us it was a great place to base ourselves whilst working in the area, but we can also see iRead moret would be great as a holiday base Hide

This is a wonderful cottage with fabulous history. The surrounding area was delightful, steeped in history. The standard of finish within the cottage was amazing. It felt like a home from home, only better!
