While staying in the coastal town of Tynemouth, you’ll be immediately drawn to the imposing English Heritage priory and castle (less than 0.5 miles). Wander around the ruins and discover the history of the seafront site before stretching out on the sandy shores of King Edward’s Bay (less than 0.5 miles). In the town, you can swing by the independent seafood eateries and quirky gift shops. Head into the city of Newcastle (9.5 miles) and sniff out the dog-welcoming restaurants and pubs. Pay a visit to the iconic Angel of the North sculpture (13.5 miles) or step back in time at the 1898 St Mary’s Lighthouse (4.5 miles). For some surfing or digging in the sand, Long Sands Beach is dog-friendly all year round (1 mile).
