Introduce your pet to the delights of North Norfolk with a stay at this charming cottage in Wiveton. With one bedroom, it’s perfect for a solo or couples trip containing a mix of coastal and countryside adventures. Cley-next-the-Sea (1 mile), with its iconic windmill and Cley Marshes Nature Reserve, is a paradise for nature lovers and dog walkers.

This one-bedroom holiday home, formerly a Methodist chapel, has been thoughtfully converted into a cosy retreat. After entering through the side door, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need for meal prep. This opens up to a small hallway leading to a snug lounge area with dual-aspect windows, complete with a comfortable armchair and a sofa. Your pet can warm their fur by the wood burner while you watch something on the TV. The king-size bedroom, located just off the main hallway, has lovely wood-panelled walls and a soothing grey colour scheme. Adjacent is a family bathroom featuring a shower over the bath and a WC. Your pup will love absorbing the fresh air in the small private courtyard, which is accessed via French doors from the kitchen. While there’s no designated parking space, you can conveniently unload your belongings on the driveway next to the cottage before parking on the street or at the nearby village car park (opposite the village pub, 350 metres).

You’ll be a 2-mile walk from the gorgeous Cley Beach, where dogs are welcome to run freely (please be careful of ground-nesting birds between April and August). The charming village of Blakeney (1.5 miles) also offers pretty coastal paths, or you can book a seal-watching boat trip where well-behaved dogs are welcome to join. A short drive inland takes you to Holt (4 miles), a Georgian market town with art galleries, quaint boutiques, antique shops and dog-friendly cafes. Holt Country Park (5 miles) is wonderful for leisurely woodland walks, or you can board a steam train to Sheringham (8 miles) for a memorable day out.

Surpisingly spacious cottage. Comfortable living room sofa and king size bed. Peaceful setting with lovely lanes for quick dog walks. Good location for access to all the key tourist locations. Lovely local pub serving good food: The Wiveton Bell. Shame it doesn't serve food on Monday and Tuesday.

We had a really lovely stay at Clare Cottage. It was our first time in North Norfolk, and Wiveton is perfectly located for exploring the area. The walk into Cley-next-the-Sea is lovely, and it was really easy to get everywhere else. Parking by the cottage was no problem. The cottage is peaceful, extremely comfortable and generously equipped (rarRead moree to find a holiday place with kitchen towel and washing up liquid!), and is very tastefully decorated. The cottage is a real treasure, really homely and cosy, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. A perfect place to wake up in and to come back to rest at the end of a day out exploring the area. It is situated on a quiet little lane on the outskirts of a pretty village with a lovely couRead morentry pub. Clare Cottage is lovely - we had a brilliant week. The cottage was clean and warm and had everything we needed, and was perfectly located for a couple of wildife-watching nuts like us! Some fabulous coastal locations nearby.

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful area. Handy for exploring the whole of North Norfolk. Would definitely stay again. One of the most relaxing holidays we have had.

I have to say from the outset - cos I'm going to list a lot of failings - that we had a lovely stay in this cottage: it was in such a beautiful location; so peaceful and calm and with immediate access to the countryside, and it was nicely proportioned (e.g. good size kitchen and bathroom), a good layout, a quaint cottage feel, some charm, and GENERead moreRALLY very clean, uncluttered and very dog-friendly. For those reasons we loved the cottage. But the downside is that there were a lot of small failings. I won't catalogue them all, but I will mention the dealbreakers: the unforgivable. The cleanliness of the cutlery and crockery was really poor. There was a knife with a small piece of food debris on it. We let it go - just an anomaly - but there were mugs with conspicuous tea or coffee stains; kitchen knives that were greasy and stained, a glass bowl that had specs of 'something' (food presumably); saucepans that needed a proper clean; an oven that had fat on the bottom that made the kitchen fill with smoke when we used it; most glasses with corrosion, so they were misty, and one wine glass that was cracked. For me, using crockery or cutlery that isn't spotless is a dealbreaker: who wants the feeling of ingesting some past guests food? What might be acceptable at home, e.g. the dishwasher occasionally doesn't wash things thoroughly, is totally unacceptable when arriving at a holiday home. We put all the cutlery and crockery through the dishwasher cos it was a distraction to our holiday. Perhaps the owner needs a new cleaner? Cos whatever the problem is, it actually turned our stomachs. There is more, but I think you get the gist: 80% brilliant and 20% really poor - and the critical thing is that 'emotionally' the 20% punches SO far above it's weight, i.e. how can I recommend this cottage to you? Who wants a high-end cottage to find many things don't work and there's mould? Who's wants to pay 1000 a week for this level of hygiene and service? Just what we wanted. Ideal for 2. Parking could be an issuewas not inclined to park in the narrow lane. However the community free car park was a very pleasant 5 mins walk. What a beautifully planned and decorated cottage - every inch of space was well thought out and a real delight! We would definitely like to come again. The only slightly tricky thing was the fairly compact parking on the country lane, but luckily we brought our Mini so most of the time we were able to park outside
