We stayed at The Carthouse for two weeks, 9th May to 23rd May 2026, along with our Cockerpoo, Barney. James, the owner, texted us during our journey down from Lancashire to get an idea as to when we expected to arrive. A nice touch, we thought. Upon arrival James was there to meet us to show us around and explain where everything was. He and his faRead moremily live on site and he is always available if needed. The few queries we had over the fortnight were sorted on the day. The Carthouse is a lovely property. Inside it is very well equipped and furnished. Outside there is ample parking areas and at the back there is a fully enclosed garden with outdoor furniture. Our Cockerpoo loved his daily runs on the grass. The Carthouse is ideally located for getting out and about. We visited all our favourite places, Looe, Fowey, Padstow, Falmouth, Mevagissey and Truro. We'd also recommend two garden centres that we visited:- Homeleigh, Quenchwell Road, Truro and Chacewater, Chacewater Hill, Truro. We bought several good plants, had nice meals at each and they are totally dog friendly. It was an absolute pleasure to spend our holiday at The Carthouse and thank James for being an excellent host. We totally recommend The Carthouse as an ideal place to stay in Cornwall and it will be our first choice when booking a Cornwall holiday in future. Hide

An excellent property with an incredible quality of finish and a lovely open-plan layout. It was more like living in our house than a rental property. A second living room/snug made for a more cosy evening. Loads of storage space and, so often missing from other sites, lots of hooks and shoe/boot space (essential for dog walkers). The combineRead mored shower and bathroom were excellent with a much appreciated very generous water pressure. The fully enclosed garden was perfect for the dogs and, with the gates shut, they enjoyed exploring the gravelled front of the house. A large dedicated dog field on site completed the dog-friendly provision. Plenty of nearby woodland walks as well try the Kennal Vale Woods which are just 5 minutes away by car. The traffic noise mentioned by others never seemed a problem at night and we slept soundly on the huge and very comfortable bed. Hide
