A crystal-clear river for glorious paddles, a large garden to explore and a wood burner to snooze beside when the day is done: what more could a self-respecting canine ask for? This idyllic, dog-friendly cottage has all the ingredients of a perfect holiday hideaway for both pets and people. Set on the banks of the sparkling River Ogmore and surrounded by nature, it sleeps four guests, together with two furry friends. The stone-built retreat is wonderfully secluded, yet a shop and dog-friendly pub are just a mile away. Country walkies for tail-waggers are on the doorstep, with a dog-friendly beach within easy reach.
The cottage interior blends simple country style with charming period items. Relax on comfortable seating in the spacious living/dining room, with garden views and a toasty wood burner. There’s a cosy kitchen with a breakfast table, a boot room (ideal for muddy pups), and a shower room with WC. Climb the steep, winding staircase to a wet room and two inviting bedrooms, a double and a single. Outside, beautiful gardens surround the cottage with seating on a large, decked area overlooking the river; spot kingfishers, owls and otters. As the riverbank is unfenced, please supervise children and pets at all times.
With four-legged companions beside you, explore the scenic Ogmore Valley, home to red kites and peregrine falcons. The pet-friendly beach at Ogmore-by-Sea (9 miles) promises hours of fun for your hounds. Its sweeping expanse of golden sands enclosed by rugged cliffs offers rock pools, thrilling fossil hunts and the dramatic ruins of Ogmore Castle. Dogs can revel in more exciting new smells at Bryngarw Country Park (1 mile), with more than 100 acres to explore, including mature woodland, cycle trails and a playground. Pets must stay on leads in some main areas, but there’s the prospect of ice-cream treats in the dog-friendly cafe.
