This idyllic cottage is nestled in the heart of the charming village of Quorn in Leicestershire. The property sleeps four guests and two hairy hounds, and makes a lovely couples’ retreat or base for a small family. You’ll find a myriad of countryside walks to sniff and explore from your front door, or for a day of retail therapy and fine dining, Loughborough is just 3 miles away.
The 19th-century holiday home is full of character and charm, with beamed ceilings, exposed brickwork, and county cottage-style furniture and accessories. The hub of the home is an open-plan lounge/diner, where you can stretch out on the comfortable sofas to watch the Smart TV and share family mealtimes at the farmhouse-style dining table next to the cosy open fire. In summer months, throw open the patio doors to allow Rover and Fido to amble in and out of the garden. Just off the lounge/diner is a delightful kitchen. When it’s time for bed, head upstairs to the two attractive bedrooms, both of which are decorated in calming, neutral tones. Rounding off this gorgeous home is a stylish bathroom with an indulgent roll-top bath. Outside, the woofers can potter around in the enclosed, courtyard garden as you tend to the BBQ and enjoy al fresco dining in the sunshine.
Quorn is a pretty village with traditional pubs, antique stores, boutiques and galleries. There are some lovely dog walks in and around the village, including along the Grand Union Canal and the River Soar. To get a different perspective of the Leicestershire countryside, hop aboard one of the steam trains of the Great Central Railway, just 2 miles from the cottage. For wild and rugged walks with the woofers, head to Bradgate Park, 8 miles away.
