Offering cosy nooks to curl up in with a dog or two by your side, this inviting bolthole is a place to steal away to in the Yorkshire Dales. A tail-wagging choice for two guests and two dogs, the stone cottage is in Reeth with pubs and bakeries within walkies distance and the splendour of Swaledale waiting to be explored on the edges of the village. The cottage offers a unique reverse-level layout as a former Cow’us (Cow house), a one-of-a-kind choice that’s steeped in Yorkshire’s agricultural history. It’s been lovingly updated with contemporary décor to add a superb finish to the space.
Put your best paw forward and step inside, first noticing the fantastic courtyard space at the front of the property. Inside you’re greeted by a king-size bedroom with comfy sofas positioned in front of a wood burner, your destination for late-night chats with pups snoozing by the warmth of the fire. From the bedroom space, a door leads into a handy, well-styled en-suite bathroom. Take the spiral staircase up to the first floor to find the remained of the property’s amenities, a well-stocked kitchen, dining space and another sofa set on a mezzanine above the initial lounge space.
With the River Swale running past, you’re well-positioned to find exceptional routes for long, rewarding dog walks in this marvellous area. The Swaledale fell of Calver Hill (2 miles) towers over the village of Reeth with plenty of routes to the top and incredible views at its summit. Further villages with sights and walks to go mutts for can be found close by, so jump in the car and explore Keld (11 miles), Hawes (14 miles) and Aysgarth (10.5 miles) to admire all of the spectacular scenery that surrounds each destination.
