This delightful former schoolhouse, now a beautifully restored cottage, is perfect for a family or friends who want their pets to share a wonderful holiday. Sleeping six guests, along with two pets, the timber-built period property is less than 200 metres from a sandy beach in the pretty fishing village of Sandsend. You can reach picture-postcard Whitby (3 miles) along lovely beach and clifftop walks, while the glorious North York Moors National Park (3 miles) offers a wealth of scenic trails to discover together with your pups.
This super property is flooded with light from large windows. Brimming with character and charm, it features a splendid, open-plan living space with a vaulted ceiling and wood-panelled walls. Comfortable leather seating before a wood burner defines the spacious lounge area, and there’s a sleek kitchen/diner. The ground floor also houses a family bathroom and two bedrooms – a super-king-size with sumptuous extra seating, and a pretty twin room in marine blue. Upstairs is an impressive king-size bedroom tucked into the eaves with an en-suite bathroom and seating area. Outside, enjoy al fresco dining around a picnic table to the front of the house, with more seating and a BBQ to the rear.
Sandsend has a dog-friendly pub, family-run cafe, and shop, plus a seafood restaurant with takeaway fish and chips—perfect for beach suppers. Part of the beach is a dog-free zone in the summer season, but pups can race across the sand all year round in the signposted section. Explore Whitby’s dramatic ruined Abbey with its 199 steps, book a boat trip from the quaint harbour, or board the heritage steam train (dogs are welcome) to Pickering for a magical ride through the North Yorks National Park.
