Embrace the great outdoors in this stunning rural retreat in the heart of the Nottinghamshire countryside. Sleeping six guests and three furry companions, it’s the ideal base for large families and groups of friends seeking peace and tranquillity. Enjoy scenic walks with the pack directly from your front door or head to nearby Sherwood Forest (10 miles), before heading to one of the friendly pubs in Ollerton (4 miles) for a bite to eat and a dog chew.
The redbrick cottage has a home-away-from-home vibe, with comfortable furniture, artwork on the walls, and creature comforts throughout. Enter the property via the back door and into the spacious kitchen/diner, which boasts spectacular countryside views. Create delicious meals for the group here, to share together at the table next to the window. With direct access to the garden, this is an excellent spot for the hounds to set up camp. When it’s time to relax, watch a movie on the Smart TV in the lounge or curl up next to the open fire in the snug with your favourite book. Also on the ground floor is a handy utility room and a dedicated workstation in the hallway. The three inviting bedrooms and family bathroom are upstairs. Outside, the enclosed garden has a large lawn where the woofers can burn off steam, and two patio areas with furniture for outdoor entertaining. There is also a wood-fired hot tub for reviving weary limbs after a long dog walk. There are two stables, should you wish to bring your horses, with complimentary straw bedding (hay can be purchased on site).
There are some exceptional, paw-friendly attractions to explore in the surrounding area. The vast, 3,800-acre parkland at Clumber Park National Trust is just 8 miles away, and boasts a popular, woof-welcoming cafe. Alternatively, follow in Robin Hood’s footsteps on a woodland stroll through Sherwood Forest. Rufford Abbey Country Park (6 miles) also makes a great day out, with lakeside walks and woodland trails to sniff and explore. For shopping and eating out, the thriving market town of Newark-on-Trent is just over 15 miles away.
