Alternatively, head to the coast (15 miles) for a day at the seaside or an exhilarating clifftop hike.
The vast holiday home is warm and inviting, carefully combining period features with cosy decor, plush soft furnishings, and creature comforts. At the heart of the home is an inviting lounge with a beamed ceiling and roaring open fire – the perfect dozing spot for Rover and Fido. Relax here, watching TV, reading a book from the collection provided, or having a singsong around the grand piano. Adjacent to the lounge is a quiet snug, where you and the hounds can retreat after an action-packed day. The contemporary kitchen is a joy to cook in, with everything needed to create delicious dinners for everyone, and the formal dining room oozes elegance, with its period features and warming wood burner. Completing the ground floor is a quiet study area and a handy shower room. Upstairs, you’ll find five attractive bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room. A refreshing family bathroom completes the first floor. Outside, you’ll discover plenty to keep everyone entertained. While away the afternoon in the games room – housed in a separate annexe – playing snooker and table tennis, or relaxing in the sauna. There is also a tennis court within the grounds. Enveloping the cottage is 3.5 acres of private garden and woodland, where you and the woofers can enjoy peaceful strolls, or you can share picnics and al fresco suppers on the outdoor furniture.
Journey north for 15 miles to join the Norfolk Coast Path. The stretch between Cley and Wells-next-the-Sea is particularly scenic, passing through the pretty fishing village of Blakeney. You’ll also find that your four-pawed pals are welcome on the beaches at both Cley and Wells-next-the-Sea all year. If you fancy a walk away from the coast, there are lovely routes through Wiveton Downs (10 miles). From this high ground, you’ll enjoy some fantastic views across the Norfolk countryside.
