Truncheons is a wonderful holiday home - it feels as though the owners have invited you to stay with them. It is a beautiful house, and very well equipped. It is in a good location for a family holiday, with the coast and many exciting places to visit, all easy to reach. I would definitely recommend Truncheons to other families.

Truncheons was an absolutely perfect place for our whole family to spend a week. The house is fabulous, impressive and spacious but also comfortable. It was superbly equipped, with indoor and outdoor games and a really great kitchen. We often ate all together in the outdoor barbecue area. We thought that the garden was quite magical, with secreRead moret areas and beautiful planting. The location was good and we loved Winchelsea village, with its little shop (delicious bread!), cafe and pub. All in all everyone agreed that it was a brilliant week and we'd thoroughly recommend it. It felt like a privilege to stay in such a lovely home. Hide

We have just returned home after a wonderful week at Truncheons. It really is a beautiful house full of character, with an amazing garden with lots of "rooms" to explore and a fantastic outlook. The house had plenty of space for us all, 6 adults, a teenager, 2 toddlers and a baby and it was extremely well equipped, once we had searched the numerousRead more cupboards to look for things. The fridge with chilled water and ice was wonderful in the hot week we had. Lots of parking for our cars and within easy reach of the lovely town of Winchelsea. A good beach not far away with easy free parking and not too many people. We all really enjoyed our stay. Hide

Good family house with a large south facing garden with big lawned area for playing and several other areas. We were blessed with exceptionally good weather so made lots of use of the outdoors. We visited Rye and enjoyed walks around Rye harbour nature reserve. Small village shop for essentials. The house was generally well equipped although the Read moretable only really seats 8. There are 2 bar stools at the work top but they are rather separate. There are 2 good shower rooms. The bathroom is rather dated with yellow suite. One of the wardrobes had clothes in half of it which was a bit strange. Hide

The house is beautifully decorated with original artwork. It is quiet and comfortable, and has stunning views at the back of the house across the garden and fields. We enjoyed watching the birds visiting the birdfeeders in the garden. The kitchen is superb, extremely well equipped, and we had everything we needed to cook supper or breakfast during Read moreour stay. The owners very kindly left wine and a basket of logs for the fire, all much appreciated. Winchelsea has a pub, small shop (selling fresh bread and groceries) and a cafe. We particularly enjoyed visiting St Thomas's church in Winchelsea with its medieval tombs and 20th century stained glass windows. Other highlights of our trip included wandering around the streets of Rye and the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. We had a lovely lunch at the Mermaid Inn in Rye and a delicious afternoon tea at the Cobbles Tea Room. The milestone birthday was celebrated with a wonderful meal at the George in Rye.
