Bring your four canine companions to stay at this comfortable lodge in Cornwall. Perfect for couples, friends or small families, it has an enclosed deck where your mutts can snooze while you BBQ or relax in the fresh air, and is within easy reach of beaches, coastal and country walks, and the excellent (and dog-friendly) destinations of foodie Padstow.
Set within a gated site just off the A39, the single-storey lodge is warm and welcoming, with natural timber features and carefully chosen decor. Bring your hounds into the open-plan living space, where a wood burner will keep you toasty in the winter months. The corner kitchen includes all the facilities the chef could desire, and there’s a dining table where four people can eat together. In the evenings you can curl up in the cosy lounge, with your hounds by your feet, and stream a movie on the Smart TV. When everyone’s tired, say goodnight to your pals and head to bed: there’s a double with an en-suite shower room, and a twin bedroom, both beautifully decorated, plus a family bathroom with a separate bath and shower. For anyone who fancies a morning coffee, an evening drink or even a BBQ alfresco, the enclosed decking is the ideal spot. There’s also a wraparound lawn with partial fencing, and woodlands on the site where you can walk your dogs.
The lodge is 7.5 miles from Padstow, which has dog-friendly dining options and several welcoming beaches just outside the town. From here you can take the Camel Trail along a disused railway line through beautiful countryside to Wadebridge or Bodmin. The National Trust’s Lanhydrock House just 15 miles inland – a fabulous place to explore with your four-pawed pals, boasting miles of walking trails and five designated dog bathing areas on the River Fowey.
