The lounge boasts a corner sofa that’s perfect for relaxing with a book, or a movie on the Smart TV, and converts into a bed for additional guests. The two bedrooms on the first floor, one king-size that can be converted to a twin, and a double, both have lovely rural views and ample storage, and share a stunning bathroom – note that there are low, sloping ceilings in some areas upstairs. Outside you can dine alfresco, plus a large area of lawn that’s ideal for energetic hounds to zoom. You’ll also have use of a games room with table football and, in the grounds, there’s a pond around which children and pets should be supervised.

When you’ve explored the local walks around Feering, visit Kelvedon (2 miles) for enticing shops, pubs and places to eat. For a fabulous coastal walk, head to the charming, historic village of Goldhanger, or Mersea Island where you can try some delicious local seafood (both within 14 miles).

Another lovely stay at Popps Barn. 4th visit in 2025 and next one in 2026 already booked. Whilst we have only corresponded by text the owner and his family are lovely and always helpful. The dogs love their stay here and refused to get in the car to come home yesterday!

Lovely comfortable home from home with that little touch of luxury and thoughtful touches by the owners. This is now our base for visiting elderly relatives.

After having a new baby we wanted a quick get away, we already have a 5 year old and this place was perfect for all. The location was great local to the beach and the zoo for my little one! We loved the local seafood bars and the rural location was so peaceful. Everything you needed was in the cottage including a lovely hamper with essentials and bRead moreiscuits. The showers were lovely and the beds were comfortable. We will sure be wanting to return soon :) Hide

Beautiful converted barn. Beds were so comfy and gorgeous white crisp linen. Lots of towels and kitchen well equipped with tea towels and washing up liquid etc. The hot tub perfect. The football game was a little bit of escapism not to mention good fun! The little goody hamper was so welcome as was the milk in the fridge! The accommodation is full Read moreenclosed so dogs can roam without the worry of them running into the field. You can pull car right up to the door, that's a bonus. Local shops in Kelvedon just down the road, Tiptree, Maldon and Mersea all an easy, quick drive. Definitely recommend this property and we will return. Hide

Stayed here as two couples with our dogs, would highly recommend Popps Barn to family and friends, had everything we needed for a nice relaxing weekend. Everything you need to know is in the booklet from takeaways to emergency dentists or doctors. The treats left for the dogs were very much appreciated. Thank you

Lovely clean comfortable cottage.. Very spacious.. Very comfy bed. Had a lot of time sitting in unfortunately due to weather and sofa bed in living room wasn't the comfiest..also dog struggled on the hard floor and paws kept slipping away from him.. Was like watching bambi on ice... But was a lovely cottage that had everything we needed... Had a fRead moreew issues with takeaway deliverys.. No one could find us so husband had to meet out on main road.. I think perhaps the Popps barn sign needed to be a little bigger and visible.. But these are not negative comments.. Just maybe things to consider to help make things better.. Hide

Really good quiet location in the Essex countryside. London less than an hour away on the train. Weather was perfect, dog loved the secure garden and walks nearby. Accommodation was great with a comfy bed.
