Listen out for the gentle patter of paws throughout the hardwood floors of this light-filled Devonshire cottage. This spectacularly presented holiday home is located right at the heart of the action in North Devon’s Appledore, allowing you to wander out each morning to stretch your dogs’ legs and grab some locally sourced treats for breakfast. Two dogs are invited to join six human guests when staying in this canine-compatible former fisherman’s cottage, coming home each day with exhausted bodies seeking nights of relaxation after long days of fetching sticks and chasing wildlife on beaches and through country roads.

Set tails wagging as you walk through this contemporary-styled cottage with well-maintained original features including exposed stone walls and handsome beams. The lounge is a cosy space to curl up with a wood burner-effect gas fire creating an optimal space for pets to snooze by whilst you watch a favourite film on the Smart TV. Move into the kitchen/diner to dish up delicious meals or step into the enclosed courtyard where Fido can sniff around whilst you sit with a sundowner. Upstairs, three attractive bedrooms are all appealing, including the king-size master room with its own delightful balcony, Smart TV and en-suite bathroom.

From Appledore Quay (100 metres), take the pet-friendly passenger ferry over to the neighbouring village of Instow (0.5 miles) to throw a tennis ball or two on Instow Beach. This beach has dog-friendly zones at all times of year, however, do check which areas your dog is free to play in between July and August. In the opposite direction, let Rover off the lead to walk through the Northam Burrows County Park (2 miles) on the way to Westward Ho! Beach, an impressive stretch of pristine sand where you can sit and watch the surfers whilst watching your doggo play delightedly in the turquoise sea.

  • 3 bedrooms - 1 king-size, 1 double, 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 shower room with WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC

Lovely cottage with good facilities in a central position however parking could be an issue during the summer months. We were lucky and got roadside parking. Plenty of room for a family.

Appledore is a delight. We hardly used the car and the house is perfectly placed for explorers. Don't let the no parking put you off. There is a trolley for use and not too far to transport your things. Beds super comfy, plenty of crocks so you only need the dishwasher once a day.

Very cosy cottage in busy little town. Cottage is on a narrow lane which only allows pedistrian access. Cottage is very comfortable, quirky with some small steps on the ground floor. Comfy sofa's and genreally well furnished. Good quality TV. Upstairs the two main bedrooms are a good size, 3rd bedroom is smaller. Comfy matress lead to a good niRead moreghts sleep all week. The lane can be busy in the day with passing people but was quiet at night. Location is great, 30 seconds to the quay, lots of pubs within walking distance often with live music. We were lucky with the weather and the Quay was busy right up to sunset, great place for Fish and Chips or you can catch the ferry to Instow for a small charge. National Trust properties and RHS within 30 mins drive. Tarka bike trail is great too with reasonable bike hire costs. Very enjoyable holiday. Hide

Very spacious property. Decorated very well. Comfortable beds and sofas. We loved the dining kitchen, very cosy. Plenty of crockery so did not have to keep washing up as we could manage until dishwasher was full. A nice place to relax in the chilly winter weather.

A lovely cottage right in the heart of Appledore we loved being positioned right up one of the lovely little streets just a street away from the front quay. It was very tastefully decorated with lots of nice accessories definitely home from home. Lounge room area was very comfortable and spacious for those chilling in nights. We didnt do a lot of cRead moreooking as we took advantage of the local eateries but the kitchen is very well equipped. Not far from the local car park which we were able to purchase a weekly parking ticket and never had any issues finding a parking space. We did find a festival type trolley under the stairs towards the end of the holiday so that helped with carrying luggage back and forth from the cottage to car park. Hide

A charming cottage in the centre of Appledore and close to the quay. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Due to the propertys age and different levels there are quite a few steps you need to watch out, caught us out a few times.
