For a tail-wagging escape to the Devon countryside, this cosy couple’s cottage is a charming base with open-plan living and a lovely outdoor seating area. Ideally located just south of Exmoor National Park (6 miles), rest assured that canine adventures are never far, including Tarr Steps (13 miles) which offers whimsical walkies along the River Barle through ancient woodland.

Here you’ll find a comfortable sofa for two with a TV for film nights as well as a pretty dining area for two, decorated with a neutral colour palette and pops of colour. The modern kitchen has been cleverly designed to maximise the space in a small area and ensure that you have everything you need to prepare picnics and hearty meals during your stay. Completing the downstairs floor is the shower room, fitted with a shower cubicle and rainfall shower head. The first floor is filled by the calming double bedroom with a window looking out over the garden. Outside, you’ll be able to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining in the courtyard garden whilst your hound snoozes in the sunshine.

Dunkery Beacon (16 miles) is the highest point on Exmoor with fantastic trails stretching for miles with awe-inspiring scenery. For a taste of the seaside, let your dog lead the way on a stretch of the South West Coast Path from Bossington (21 miles) and enjoy dramatic exploration of the rugged pathways with exceptional views. What’s more, the pebbly shore of Bossington Beach remains dog-friendly all year around for endless hours of fun. Or, if your pup prefers to feel the sand between their paws, Minehead Beach (20 miles) has stretches which welcome four-pawed pals throughout the seasons.
