Escape to the Devonshire countryside and the small village of Filleigh, set on the edge of Exmoor. Set in an easily accessible location from the A361 and in an elevated position, this farm and much of the land is owned by the Castle Hill Estate, a Grade 1 listed park and gardens which is open occasionally to the public. Guests can enjoy the village inn, a beautiful, thatched pub in a lakeside setting which sits adjacent to the estate and serves food. The attractive market town of South Molton (3 miles) also known as The Gateway to Exmoor” has a variety of shops and a weekly market. Other attractions close by include the National Trusts Watersmeet Gorge, Valley of the Rocks and Lynton and Lynmouths funicular cliffside railway powered by water, all within 20 miles. On Exmoor you'll find walks to suit every ability, highlights include Tarr Steps and the village of Withypool and Lanacre Bridge (both 15 miles). The best sandy beaches for surfing and swimming can be found at Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde (all within 20 miles).
Accessed via external steps, the accommodation is set over three floors and sits adjacent to the owner’s thatched farmhouse. Follow the steps up to the front door and enter the hallway. The lounge/diner is to your right and is a light and airy room with comfy sofas, Smart TV, and DVD player plus a selection of books games and DVD’s. A large dining table allows for family meals and is an ideal spot for a board game. Back through the hall leads to the well-equipped kitchen with slate flooring. Heading up the stairs to the first floor, you will find two of the three bedrooms, both double rooms with one having an en-suite shower and WC. The family bathroom completes this floor with a bathroom with shower over bath and a WC next door. Rising another flight of stairs to the second floor/attic room, where you will find a double bed and two singles, ideal for younger members of the family.
Stepping outside, both the front and back doors of the cottage open out to the garden which is enclosed with lawn patio with garden furniture and views across the cattle barns to the countryside beyond. Children and dogs can enjoy the freedom of the lawn area.
