Gather your nearest, dearest and a duo of top dogs for a break at this handsome rural residence. Enjoying a beautiful location in the East Clare countryside, it’s an excellent base for an active big-group getaway with great fishing, hiking and lake access locally. After a day of adventure, refuel with fresh-from-the-garden produce, unwind in a choice of living spaces, and lap up the far-reaching views from the balcony. The four double bedrooms and flexible sleeping arrangements here will suit parties of up to 12.
Beautiful grounds surrounded by lush pastureland announce your arrival at this fabulous Georgian farmhouse. Step into a conservatory-style lounge/dining space where there’s room to dine and unwind in home-from-home style; adjacent, original ceiling beams bring character to the country kitchen. Underfloor heating will keep your pets comfortable as they stretch out on the stone floors; fire up the wood burner for added ambience. There’s an en-suite double bedroom on the ground floor, as well as a utility room and separate WC. Head up the spiral staircase and a second lounge has a balcony overlooking the gardens, a TV, and a double sofa bed. Nearby, there’s a further double en-suite bedroom, plus two others which can be made up as either double or twin bedrooms and have an additional single foldaway bed. A family bathroom completes the first-floor layout. Embrace the country-living experience as you are welcome to pick seasonal produce fresh from the courtyard gardens for your evening meals. There’s a BBQ and furniture so you can enjoy al fresco food and refreshments; the garden is fully enclosed for peace of mind as children and their four-pawed companions play.
Your dogs will go mutts for walks along the local country lanes, but for a longer walk try the 4.5-mile loop from the market town of Tulla (2.5 miles) to Lough Cloondorney, a popular angling location a little more than a mile from your doorstep. Pick up the East Clare Way in Tulla for more challenging hikes, or explore the county town of Ennis (11 miles), synonymous with Irish music and a gateway to the Shannon Estuary Way. Alternatively, cross the county boundary and visit Gort, 13 miles north, which sits on the edge of the Burren National Park.
