Surrounded by countryside and close to 7 miles of beautiful golden sands, this three-bedroom bungalow is a great base for an outdoorsy break with the dog. Guarding the mouth of Lough Foyle, Magilligan Point sits at the westernmost end of Benone Strand, where miles of golden sand have a magnificent backdrop of mountain and cliff scenery, and stunning views across to Donegal. Amid such a verdant landscape, this lovingly renovated bungalow sits beside a quiet country lane – a blissful location for a battery-recharging break with family or friends and your faithful canine companion. Park on the private driveway to unpack with ease, then settle into your new surroundings. Sure to be at the heart of your holiday, the lounge offers comfortable seating and lovely country views from its large windows. A warming wood burner within an inglenook fireplace supplements the central heating; it won’t take long for Rover to settle by the hearth! Enjoy preparing and sharing meals in the kitchen/diner; there’s space for your pet to wait patiently for tidbits, and the room is flooded with light thanks to an arched window on one wall. A convenient utility room caters for any laundry needs, and along the hallway, you’ll find three bedrooms: two doubles – one with an en-suite shower room – and a twin bedroom. A family bathroom ensures everyone’s comfort and convenience. The dog and children can let off steam in the lawned garden that wraps around the property – it’s fully enclosed and has furniture and a BBQ so you can enjoy food, refreshments and a healthy helping of fresh air.
The Magilligan Point Nature Reserve is on your doorstep – one of the largest sand dune systems in the British Isles, it’s home to wildflowers, butterflies and birds, and features a Martello Tower at its tip. It’s a 4.5-mile cross-country drive to the golden sands of Benone Beach (4.5 miles); dog restrictions apply in some parts during high season, but there’s boardwalk access where they are allowed. Further along the coast, the famous Giant’s Causeway (23.5 miles) is fully dog-friendly. For a change of terrain, head 12 miles south for woodland walks in the scenic Roe Valley Country Park; shop for essential supplies en route in the market town of Limavady (9.5 miles).
