Boasting magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean and distant mountains, this remote cottage is perfect for an escape in nature. Treat Fido to an adventure in County Mayo and fill your time with long scenic walks around the white sandy beaches, craggy peaks and wild lands of Erris and Achill Island. Up to seven guests and one four-legged friend can stay in this bright, contemporary cottage with a wood burner and garden.
Enter the property and walk through the lobby area into the neutral-toned, country-style kitchen with a central, wooden dining table. A well-organised ‘L’-shaped fitted kitchen unit sits on one side of the space with checker tiling, dark surface tops and shaker-style cabinets. Continue into the airy lounge to find comfortable sofas surrounding the wood burner and TV. Also on the ground floor is a family shower room plus two bedrooms – an en-suite double and a single room. Climb the stairs to reach a family bathroom, a double bedroom and a twin room. Outside, is a partially enclosed garden with furniture.
During your stay in Doona, start your day with a stroll through the dunes onto Doona Beach (less than 1 mile). Head along the coastal road and stop at Ballycroy National Park (4 miles) to explore the walking trails. Continue south to reach Achill Island (25 miles) where you’ll find hidden sandy bays, eateries, a spa with seaweed baths and the dramatic Croaghaun mountain. In the opposite direction is Erris Head (28 miles) – here you can follow the scenic loop walk around the rugged clifftops.
