Bell Cottage has the most amazing location however, TLC is needed. I had to contact Holidaycottages to arrange for the grass to be cut. Long grass with a dog meant we were searching for poos. The patio table and chairs need attention they are very tired. No parasol. The area by the the back door was full of gravel and weeds. And the metal dustbin bRead morey the back door was half full of water with floating poo bags from previous guests. Also the shelf from the fridge door we found in a cupboard with a note from another guest to explain that it had fallen off while they were at the cottage. The fridge had a very bad odour. We tried out best to clean it but I left a note for the next guests to explain that the fridge was smelling and it was like that on our arrival. The mirror in the bedroom needs to be fixed to the wall as it's ok as long as you only want to see from your thighs down. The light in the bathroom didn't work. On a positive note the bed was comfy and the shower good. Location was so lovely and the church bells were a bonus. The grass was cut while we were out but grass cuttings were walked right through the cottage to the front door. That should not have been left for us to tidy up. With the next question in mind I would not recommend Bell Cottage unless I could be certain that these issues had been addressed and the maintenance team step up with their duties. I actually don't think a sweeping brush has been used at the cottage for a very long time. Hide

Very nice property, well situated and very well equipped, the stairs were somewhat difficult (given that we are both OAPs) but nothing that overly affected the holiday. Also in view of the fact that it was the hottest week of the year the cottage due to its age/construction stayed nice, cool and comfortable. Only thing to mention to prospective renRead moreters is that parking is very difficult near to the property. Overall an excellent base for access to both beaches and surrounding countryside with good pubs, restaurants and shops in the town. Hide

A beautiful cottage on a very quiet street, lovely to hear the church bells every day and a short stroll into the centre of the village. Managed to park in the street every evening. Well equipped with everything we needed to cook a meal in the evening, a very comfortable super king size bed that would be better if it had the appropriate sized duveRead moret on !!! The shower was great but the toilet was a little cosy. Overall we found the cottage ideal for our needs, easy to get to local attractions in a beautiful scenic area of Dorset. Hide

Characterful cottage with a good bed and a good shower. Parking was a bit stressful, especially in the dark. The cottage stairs are much more difficult than the description suggests - there is a right angle turn halfway up which is only 11 inches wide.

What a wonderful cottage we loved our stay and didnt want to leave. On the first evening we took a coffee up to the top garden bench and as we looked up the view of the church took our breath away. We slept very well as bed was comfy and local walks had exhausted us we will be back to this friendly village and lovely cottage as soon as we can.

We had a really relaxing stay at Bell Cottage. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was great. Great position for visits to Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Bridport etc and good places to eat in Beaminster itself.

Nice cottage. Bed very comfortable and shower excellent. Glad the garden now has a lawn. Dog loved it. Ate in the greyhound pub which has a good menu with different specials every night. Suggest you book as it is very popular.

A very good location for this quirky cottage, right in the centre of the small town and easy to get to all the local attractions. Parking is on the street and while occasionally we couldn't park right outside, generally we had no problems with this. The cottage was well-equipped, the kitchen had everything needed for a week's stay and the showeRead morer was very good. A large and comfy bed as well. The stairs are very narrow and difficult to negotiate for anyone with mobility issues. However it is in need of some TLC throughout, as while the place was clean, it looks tired and would benefit from some fresh paint and updating on some of the fixtures like blinds. The garden is particularly bad and looked like it had not been touched all summer. It was so overgrown with weeds that it made it unusable during our stay which was disappointing as we booked this based on the photos so our dog could go outside into the enclosed garden. The front outside area was also full of weeds and with all the bins there does not give a good first impression. Hide
